Mr. Brooks was...odd.
First, the obvious must be said that Demi Moore's acting was atrocious. With that out of the way, the movie was peculiar. It compelled to type up an even minorly detailed review. It was unpredictable (setting up parts so you thought you predicted it, but you did not, the end for example), yet, the plot twists were not shocking or surprising at all. It ended well. Beautifully, rather. It took me completely off guard, I praised myself for predicting the end so perfectly, then slapped myself for being an idiot.
Finally, I must commend Dane Cook for getting past the immense comedy wall he has built up, and making me forget all the time he has cracked me up, if he had never done comedy and just plunged straight into acting he may have won awards for that role. He's an interesting guy. In movies, no matter what the characters are, even if they are supposed be hated, all characters are written whether intentionally or unintentionally with some sort of charisma. So, naturally when Mr. Smith was written on purpose to have no charisma, in any way shape or form (a first for me in movies), it would make people not like that character. But Dane Cook did it well (granted he started off a little slow).
