While the movie may drag a little in the middle, it doesn?t take that much suspense of disbelief to think that this could happen, and while the direction seems to wonder a little, the movie provides a solid script and screenplay, that keeps you going until the very end.

"Transformers" is a movie made for the action loving! This movie is one slack jawed, popcorn flying action flick! Of course it has giant alien robots beating the ever loving slag out of each other, but there's a whole lot more to this movie than, naturally, meets the eye. It has an exceptionally wide range of humor, from your everyday government agent, to some slightly eccentric sexual humor!
If anything is well done in this movie, it?s the robots. They simply are a mass of perfection, leaving you open mouthed. The designs for the robots are far more alien than the robots from the 1980s, but they look great! In the 1980s cartoon, the Transformers were huge, colorful blocks that fit themselves together to form a truck, car, plane or any other vehicle. Of course most of the old school Transformer fans were outraged by the new, hugely complex designs. Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen, the original voice of Prime) was screwed up in an overly eccentric flame paint job; Bumblebee (Mark Ryan) was sported as a slick new Camaro (very flashy!), Ironhide (Jess Harnell), Ratchet (Robert Foxworth), Frenzy (Reno Wilson). Barricade (Jess Harnell), Jazz (Darius McCrary), Bonecrusher (Jimmie Wood) and Starscream (Chrled Adler) had no ties to the old cartoon aside from their names and vehicle modes. And of course our old favorite Megatron (voiced by the well chosen actor Hugo Weaving of the Matrix trilogy) was just a jumble of scrap that was held together by an electromagnet. But this is all due to the fact that the robots need to look real, move in realistic ways and transform so that they look far more advanced than anything we have ever seen or built. As a fairly new Transformer fan (hey, there are people out there who have 3000 Transformers!), I was slightly annoyed about the new designs but actually grew to like some of them (Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are my favorites). Then again, the movie that we?re talking about draws you in from the very beginning and the designs just simply add to the experience. But let?s talk more about the humans. Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) is your typical teenage boy out to impress the girl of his dreams, Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox). When $2000 and 3 As earn Sam a slick, 2008 Camaro, which turns out to be the Autobot spy, Bumblebee, Sam is caught in an intergalactic struggle between good and evil. On the hunt for the robots, however, is the mysterious government agency, Sector Seven?an agency that no one has ever heard of and most likely never will. Agent Simons (John Turturro) is the parody of the shadowy covert agent and is comedy gold. And Captain Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and Epps (Tyrese Gibson) are great fun to watch. Maggie Madsen (Rachael Taylor), Glen Whitmann (Anthony Anderson, hilarious), Defense Secretary John Keller (Jon Voight) and Tom Banachek (Michael O'Neill) make noted appearances in this film as well. One of the most interesting and controversial things about this movie is that it is told from a very human perspective. While the Transformers franchise inspired Michael Bay to make a Transformers movie, he failed to capture the huge battles and backgrounds of the robots themselves. Optimus Prime and Bumblebee were given a decent amount of screen time for their personalities to shine, but the rest of the robots were just for looks and laughs. This is again due to the human perspective. While it may annoy some old school Transformer fans it?s understandable simply due to the fact that we, as humans, don?t know if aliens exist, much less what they look like, and if they have any physical structure at all. The Transformers movie is largely based on ET and War of the Worlds so its? not at all surprising that the robots have arms and legs and emotions surrounding their awesome physical structures. Make sure you see this movie somewhere were there is a great sound system because the audio in this movie is fantastic! I saw it on a digital screen, and while some of the sound was a little choppy at times, I was never in doubt about how huge and overwhelming the audio was. See this movie. Sure it has its ups and downs, but is this not the case with all movies? Recommended for the hard-core and average Transformer fan alike and any other geek out there who loves sci-fi, comedy, drama, a crapy plot and lots of action!!!
