This recent Halloween I was finally able to see Zombieland, and I'm very glad I chose to see it!
What I like about Zombieland is the jokes come effortless. The characters are always focused on keeping their eyes open for zombies, and aren't purposely making dim-witted jokes. The humor just unfolds as the movie goes along, never taking too long of a break.
You may be cautious of viewing this movie because this movie idea has been done before, most famously in Shaun of the Dead. Do not worry, my friends, do not worry. Shaun of the Dead goes for the goofy humor approach, and is very British as well. Zombieland is much different. The movie is less silly and more serious. The main characters don't even like each other for most of the movie! In my opinion (which I think is shared by a lot others), is that Zombieland is greater than Shaun of the Dead. Both are very great movies, luckily different in a lot of ways, and may even make a good double feature idea.
As I'm sure you've heard by now, Bill Murray makes a cameo appearance. Best scene in the film! The zombie killing gang of characters randomly take a rest in Bill Murray's house, where B.M. starts doing his regular big screen big laughs.
Jesse Eisenberg's character is an isolated outsider looking for love in his life- both a love of comfort and a special other. He plays his job well and you really get a good idea of what's going on in his head throughout the film.
Everything about this movie just adds up to the perfect survival zombie comedy. It's super bad-ass, hilarious, and gives some really awesome zombie-killing goodness around every corner.
