Great review, Wendy, I'll be sure to check out your reviews because you have great taste. I've heard GREAT things about Amelie, so I'll be sure to see it. Then I will read the second paragraph ;)

Awesome, dynamite, exceptional, fantastic, first-rate, hellacious, marvelous, masterly, perfect, super-duper, surpassing, terrific, tremendous and wonderful all come to mind with this film! (Thanks for the help Wendy-kins) I can't believe it has already been 8 years since this movie came out. Interesting to note - Audrey Tautou was the first actress he auditioned having seen her on the poster for Venus Beauty Institute.

Good review. I like Amelie as well, though i think on repeated viewing it can occasionally seem a little too whimsical for its own good. However the sequence where she wonders what happens to her male friend is hilarious to this day. It's certainly hard to believe that the guy who directed this charming little film was also the bozo behind Alien Ressurection.

I think everyone has it in them to have success and failure :)Also - I disagree that repeated viewings seem too whimsical. I have watched it many times over and always fall in love all over again!

See "A Very Long Engagement" - much better than I anticipated based on the premise.

nice review.i liked the film too. but i can see why it's on a girl's top 10 ;)

That's like saying they know why an action film is ... I have a hard time narrowing favorite films. Fight Club is another definite favorite, and it's too early to tell, but I think Inglorious Basterds may also have a spot. Does that revoke my membership to the girl's club? (Lame)

Greetings Wendy:Well written. Thanks. This is one of my favorite recent comedy films. I enjoyed its quirky sensibility. Main-stream US film makers just don't think this creatively. I remember strongly recommending it to friends & co-wrkrs. I didn't find anyone who had an interest. Many cited the necessary English sub-titles.I was again reminded. There are legions of people who live their lives w/ very limited ideas of all the possibilities.
Thanks for your insightful additions!
