Extraordinarily dour comtemplation on religion, the meaning of life, fear, death, the failure of any philosophy to provide comfort to us in the face of certain obliteration. Many long takes and lots of long slow pans similar to Haneke as well as similar themes. My fav Tarkovsky is The Mirror, this is to similar to a play. The colors and lighting are referenced from a Da Vinci painting "The Three Kings" which seems to predict Rembrant and other Dutch painters with its blackness. Stay away if you can't stand slow moving films.
