I still have not been able to catch the Chili Peppers live so I decided to go check out the live broadcast in theaters. They played the new album Im With You in it's entirety, and it was fantastic. They have amazing chemistry on stage and they respect each other dearly. Newcomer Josh Klinghoffer has replaced guitarist John Frusciante and he blends in perfectly. Flea is an absolute freak on the bass. He is so captivating they could have just showed him the whole show and I would not have gotten bored. Chad Smith is a god on the drums, it's great to see him smile as he's blasting away. Keidis brings energy and passion to the vocals. They all just look happy to be spreading their sound waves of love. There were a few instances where Anthony would walk off the stage and let the guys have at it, and they would just improv this incredible music. It was beautiful and funkadelic. I just wanted to get out of my seat and dance! They rocked out the small venue in Germany. The camera angles were a bit awkward, and I hated the ADD cuts between band members-just give me a nice shot of them all playing for 30 seconds, jeez! I was slightly disappointed about the strict 90 minute time frame they had to play. Keidis announced it after he was told they had to wrap it up. When I bought the tickets online it said the show was 2 hours and 15 minutes. Right after they finished the album they only had time for 2 of their classics: Me and My Friends and Give it Away. The show abruptly ended without even an encore which I'm sure there was. I savored watching them perform live-they don't seem to make it to Portland-but I was left wanting more.
