I have watched this movie twice now, each time I try to like it, and I just can't, and I won't be watching it again.
This movie was probably one of the most hyped up movies of all time, and then Heath Ledger died which increased the hype ten-fold.
That being said, I don't hate this movie because it is popular, I just don't like it for several reasons. First off, they try to do too much, and the plot gets WAY more complicated than it needs to be. People seem to equate a confusing and convoluted plot to a good plot, but this is not true. Look at the best stories in cinema history, like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. none of those stories are hard to follow, yet they are some of the best.
Second of all, while all this stuff is going on, there doesn't seem to be any reason for a lot of it and I just can't get into it.
Thirdly, I understand that it is supposed to be a dark movie, but even so, this movie took itself WAY too seriously. And that ruins any kind of enjoyment that I can have from watching this movie.
Next, the movie is way too long, it drags on needlessly, and I found myself bored during most of this movie, even during the decent action scenes.
Next, I found there to be no reason that Gordon would tell Gotham that Batman killed Dent...why is that a good idea? Gordon knew why Batman had to do it, so why would he tell the city that Batman did it in order to make him out to be a bad guy?
And finally, Christian Bale makes a good Bruce Wayne, he really does, but he makes a terrible Batman, which is a big problem for this movie, I could not find Batman to be interesting, or intimidating.
So despite good performances, this movie had a muddled and convoluted plot, it was overly long, and just plain uninteresting.
Also: The sonar cellphone shit was the stupidest thing ever.
