The 3d effects were very well done, and that experience alone is worth the price of admission. The charachter development and story line were much better than I expected going in. However, I do have a few criticisms.
The bad guys were a little too bad. I think there was an opportunity to comment on the the corporate, group-think, decision making process (how that threat of litigation gives good reasons for good people to make bad decisions) and how it is so completely in-congruent with any sort of morale agenda, and so disrespectful of life in general. Instead it was made out to be the insane decision making of the individuals, which I don't think is accurate or fair as a social commentary. If part of the agenda of this movie was to promore people to think deeper about the decision making process of our society, it failed because it promoted a point of view that fails to understand the real problem.
Nit-picky, perhapes, but with the sort of audiences this movie is reaching there was a missed opportunity to say something really important, and really make people think. That said, it is still high quality entertainment.
