Was it perfect? no. Was it enjoyable? yes. This movie doesn't really feel like Carrols Wonderland, it feels like Burtons. Which I guess may not be a bad thing, I was personally hoping for the latter. It is dark and dreary and to me, that took some of the fun out of it. I love dark movies and even more I love dark childrens movies, look at the first Willy Wonka, perfect example. But the difference is, it was bright and sparkly and at the same time showing the audience a more savage nutty main character, they just dressed it up in sherbet and colorful taffy. This movie is the same way, just without the colorful disguise. But I do say its fun to watch and although the CG gets annoying at points and the 3-D left a lot to be desired it is a must watch for any fan of the original. And as much as i like Johnny Depp the movie isn't titled Hatter in Wonderland. Go see it and buy it if your a fan, there are some great ideas here and hopefully you will enjoy.
