Is this a good movie? eh. The real question is have you read the books. Well unfortunately the only thing I do that is comparable to my time watching movies, is reading. So, when a new series is getting big i usually pick up and read the book, no matter the subject. Bc in my findings books are always better than movies. And this is certainly not the case. And we will say i read 100 books a year, this was probably in the bottom 5% of worst books ive picked up this year. I mean the book sucked something awful and if you thought it was a good book, that just proves you dont read, or enjoy crapy romance novels. Try reading something else that isnt mindless vampire dribble, try Jurassic Park of Heart of Darkness, then come back and tell me this was a good piece of literature.
But i am not reviewing the book i am reviewing the movie. So to clarify, there are 3 things that can happen to make me give a movie a higher score than i feel it deserves: the original sucked so i assume the sequel will be far worse and it proves me wrong ( and the first twilight was one of the worst movies ive seen in a long time.), the book sucked (and it did), or I was drug to it by my girlfriend and had no expectations except knowing it was going to be painful to sit through and I was proved mostly wrong. So really with out these 3 rules this movie gets a 30 but with these 3 it fairs slightly better.
Im glad Robert Patterson plays a vampire bc he feels dead when he acts, lifeless and dull, but then again he did the same in Harry Potter 4. Kristen Stewart is just a bad actress who only knows how to show emotion by running her fingers through her hair, huffing and sighing(really its like clockwork). The only movie I have ever enjoyed her in was Adventureland, and thats bc the role called for a stupid, dramatic teen girl. and Taylor is an eh actor, but I did enjoy him in Sharkboy. The part where the movie shines bc we know its not the acting is the director. He did an amazing job with his shots and the symbolism. Also the writers need to be awarded bc they took a mind numbingly dull rip out your eyes and fall asleep book and turned it into a semi boring movie. But really they beefed up a bunch of scenes and actually put in a little action. so kudos to you guys.
So do you watch or buy this you may be asking. The question is did you read the books? bc if you did sure, then watch and enjoy but if you did not, then stay away, go watch John Carpenters Vampires, Dusk till Dawn, Dog Soldiers or Interview with the Vampire. Your money is much better spent there.
