Thinking, thinking, thinking. None of this is meant to be taken to seriously, EXCEPT my PTSD... These are just ramblings, ventings, thoughts.
I have come to a conclusion, that for me, no movie is bad, in terms of artistic expression, if those involved are genuinely attempting to express themselves. I am not a fan of mass-produced films or music in general, but it does have its appeals, if you want to shut your brain off, and sometimes I do. Why? PTSD. Sometimes, all I can do is sit there and try not to think of ways to kill myself, divert my thoughts. So in that regard mindless films, esp musicals, are great. lol BUT in the end, I when I am not having an episode, I generally prefer movies that make me think or at the very least express a point of view, even if it is a dumb movie that makes no sense, and I have a penchant for movies of that type.
I think in general, art is the best way to heal a wounded mind, to express yourself, which is why I think its such a shame often times, movies and music are supposed to fit in this idea and notion that an INDUSTRY have boxed them into. I sing, and for me, it is an exestion of myself, many people call me over the top and many more rude and colorful terms which I wont repeat. But I will never ever ever again try to put myself in to an industry music or film because the focus should be on creating an honest peice of work and not on creating something for mass consumption. Maybe at the end of the day, it turns in to something only for yourself, and other times it is something you want to share w/ others, w/ my music and with my videos or plays, books, etc, most of them have never seen the light of day besides me because they were very cathartic. I believe in keeping the creative process organic, that entails different things for different people, for me, that means keeping myself open to all possibilities creatively and not putting time constraints on my creative process, but some people work better under pressure, or a mixture or whatever, everyone is different.
My hope is, with the internet, we will see a dissolution of the film and music industries as we know them today, and see people working more and more together to create honest films and movies more. Do I want the spectacles to go away? No, I enjoy them, some of my favorite films were huge Hollywood productions, but less of them, as an exception, rather than the rule, getting all the talk and press, would be refreshing.
God Bless ~Amy
