If you are confused by the title of my blog entry, a Mary-Sue is a character that has no personality (i.e. the creator of the character wanted to be put into their shoes). If you'd like more definition, go read my blog "Why Twilight is Horrid".
See, I think character development is more important in movies than in books. Character development in books is necessary, but we feel more fulfilled when there is character develpment in movies. This means, oh lordy, a GOOD script and a GOOD actor. Heavens no! Where shall we ever find those two together?!
If anyone has a good example of a movie with character development, feel free to comment below. My examples would be Donnie Darko (the title character of the 2001 thriller) and Caleb Sinclaire from one of my favorite movies "The Vicious Kind" (props to Lee Toland Krieger).
