The cinephile's dream... Drive packs a punch. Ryan Gosling is brilliant as the silent and nameless driver known only as "The Kid". An impressive film from Nicolas Winding Refn, who utilizes the electric-pop musical score to set the various moods of the movie's scenes. A very unique movie indeed; almost reminiscent of movies from the 80's. The shocking, brutal violence of the film may put some moviegoers off, but I personally found it rather refreshing, as morbid as that may sound. Drive is filled with great acting, direction, lighting, writing, suspense, artistically-shot gore, and music. Drive is definitely worth a watch. It's an absolute understatement to say that it's a shame that Drive wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
