Toy Story 3, the 3rd instalment in the universally acclaimed computer-animated franchise, by one of the most trusted companies in film history, Pixar... has now become one of my favourite animated movies of all time.
Directed By Lee Unkrich, and written by Andrew Stanton, John Lasseter and Lee Unkrich Toy Story 3, is better than Toy Story 2, and just a tiny bit off the first Toy Story? Why? Toy Story 3, living up to the almost unbeatable hype, The movie has almost every emotion experienced in all films in it. It's funny, sweet, depressing, happy, romantic, thrilling and sometimes even scary through the film. With a massive budget of $200 million, the animation is brilliant, as is the story. Which along the way, features many twists among the storyline and the characters.
Pixar have decided to take a whole different turn on what they usually create. With, despite it's G rating, Has some very mature moments. I would not recommend to take your child to see the film at the movies if they get scared easily. Toy Story 3 has some new, and very creepy characters. One of them being Big Baby, who seems like a normal fake toy baby, only with a droopy eye, and makes baby sound effects at the scariest times. ( Minor spoiler alert.) There is one scene where the toys are trying to escape the Day-care centre, when Big Baby is sitting on a swing, making creepy baby noises, before he hears the Gang escape, and quickly spins his head 180 degrees. Another character which may scare the little ones would be a monkey with symbols toy. Who watches over the toys trying to escape 24 hours a day. and when he hears Woody trying to take him out, you will hear one of the most loudest and freakiest screams I've heard in a movie. The scene made me Jump so much, that I dropped my popcorn on the floor. The movie really should be rated PG, due to its horrific scenes, a little bit of sexual references, infrequent violence and dramatic scenes.
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT:
There is a scene in the movie where the gang end up in a dumpster with Lotso huggin bear with them. As they are trying to escape from being Incinerated, Lotso fines a switch that can cause the machines to make an emergency stop. (Lotso first appeared when the gang arrived in Sunnyside, and appeared to be good, but was later found out to be very bad and locks up the toys at night so they can't escape, as he is played with by the older kids at the day-care centre, when other toys are played with by the younger kids who torture with their rough play. And he eventually changes his ways near the end.) As Lotso climbs to the top to hit the emergency stop button, there is another twist, where he simply walks away safely, leaving everyone else to suffer. They are all thrown into the room where they will be incinerated. When my favourite seen in the movie starts. The Gang, just feet away from death, start to lose hope. When Jessie Looks at Buzz and grabs his hand. The rest of the gang do they same. All about to die. A very sad, possibly tear producing scene, before they are saved by the aliens with "the Claw." Which Immediately brought a smile to my face, before a near perfect ending. When Andy passes down his toys to Bonnie, and has one final play with them before leaving to go to college. And the credits roll after its shows bonnie having a play with the gang.
Visuals: 95%- Excellent animation as usual from pixar, it is captured perfectly well in some scenes.
Music: 94% - Simply amazing score by Randy Newman. Features some happy, sad and creepy scores.
Story: 98% - Nearly flawless story. Incredible twists, and emotional scenes.
Overall: 96% - This is one of the highest scores I've ever given to a movie. It was so good, there were times I forgot it was an animated kids movie. I Have a pretty good feeling that this will be the best movie all year. Even though the movie was one of Pixar's longest, it was so good, that time went by very fast, and it felt like only an hour had went by. It features some kick-ass moments. And the acting is top notch. Oscar Nomination again anyone? You have a 99% chance of liking the movie according to the toamto-meter. With an average User rating of 9.3/10 , does anyone know if that is one of the highest ever? because it probobaly is. Toy story 3, is an amazing, gripping, and funny movie reccommended for everyone no matter what they're age and what they're into. Because Toy Story 3 has it all.
