"Gangster Squad" 10 Scale Rating: 6.5 (Good) ...

The Good: It is a fun movie, for lack of a better term. Not deep or hard hitting, but entertaining and at times amusing. Very very stylish with nice sets and wardrobe. They got the "feel" of the era pretty much down. Great shootouts and car chases, much better than expected from this sort of film.

The Bad: A little too frantic and non-stop at times. Very straight-forward and predictable. Penn was too up and down for me. At times he was fantastic, other times he hammed it up a little too much. Emma Stone was pretty much wasted as the typical damsel in distress.
