Easy A is a great example of a smart teen comedy. Well written and great performances. Emma Stone stars as Olive. She plays it to perfection and charm that's hard to resist. This basically parallels the story of The Scarlet Letter set within the modern age (And it's the inspiration for the film) Classic 80's comedies including Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles, basically any movie with John Hughes name on it heavily influenced this movie as well. Olive tells some white lies. Which make a gay classmate Brandon (Dan Byrd) want to have her tell another lie about them having a one night stand, which then sets off a chain reaction through the school. A majority of the jokes are funny, with very few misses. The reason I love this movie is because the film doesn't star a stereotypical teenage girl. Only problem I had was that the film felt WAY to short. With an hour and a half, I wanted to see more of the characters. Easy A, might not be an instant classic, but proves that teen comedies can still be funny for teens and adults.
