This news on Channel 5 that Obama is giving a speech Sunday night is annoying to me on so many levels. Message the country all you want, but do you really have to schedule this speech for Oscar night? Is there no other night he could do it? A lot of people are looking forward to the Academy Awards, so it?s irritating to say the least to have to watch the show on tape-delay. Practical matters ? like getting up for work the next day ? will prevent me from staying up until 4 a.m. to see the end of the show and the announcement of the Best Picture winner. Joke all you want about those of us who really love the Oscars, but we want to see them in real time, not tape-delay! I understand that this trade agreement with Namibia is important to a lot of people, but is there no other night to televise this address? Hope they don?t expect millions of people to tune in for this speech, because I?m sure many will be pissed off by the horrible timing. You know, I used to get mad when Bush always seemed to speak on Thursdays, pre-empting "Survivor." Didn?t anyone tell Obama we want to see "The King?s Speech" ? not the president?s? Fall flat, ratings. For crying out loud. It drives me nuts, and it really is the first word in messing with people.
