Memento is a clever film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film centers on a man, Leonard Shelby, that has a condition that causes him to lose his memory after short periods of time, and he searches for the man that raped and killed his wife. He has tattoos across his body, and pictures about people and places with a short sentence about them to remind him of their significance.
My favorite thing about the film is how it was made. It was made to go backwards. the film begins with the end of the story, and ends with the beginning. This may sound confusing, and it can be. The film shows how it got to the point of Leonard killing the supposed "killer" of his wife. Its really rather interesting.
This method of telling the story just grabs you in from the beginning, and by the time the ending comes, with its well-crafted twist, you're completely shocked and blown away.
Memento is easily one of the greatest, most cleverly written films I have seen.
