Vittorio De Sica was a character... and an excellent director. Good choice and nice review! Thumbs up! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Panta. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Wonderful review of an important film. Haven't seen it myself, but it will certainly be added to the queue. Lovely review, EG! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thank you, Bill. De Sica's "Umberto D" is one of my favorite films of all time, and I couldn't imagine liking one more, but this film ranks very close to that. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review of one of my all time favourite films, EG! So glad you give it a perfect rating...it is one of the lesser recognized De Sica films! This film is pure magic. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It was, wasn't it? I'm thinking I'd better look for "Shoeshine" next. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Another first! I'll look into it EG, well done. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I think you would like this one very much, Mr. T. 0 Replies | Report Abuse cool. great review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Hey, thanks Indy. Thanks for the introduction. I'll look into this one. Like the last little bit you wrote about the poem, a nice closer. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Netflix is a good assist in finding treasures like this. I may not have quoted the poem exactly - mine is a paraphrase, but the poem is one more key to understanding the film. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Amazing! Looks like a moving piece of cinema...I am adding it to my watchlist. So many gems unknown to me out there. Well written! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, AG. I was delighted to find this one. 0 Replies | Report Abuse What a nice review... I wanna see this... now! Thumbs up! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Panta. It's a great little film, and perhaps not as sentimental as I make it sound. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Yet another film to add to my ever expanding Netflix list. Sounds wonderful based on your excellent review. Well done! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I think you'll like it, Bill. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Outstanding review. This sounds like an excellent film. I've gotta see this! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Challenging, but well worth it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Fantastic review.I'll it on DVD.I wasn't sure, but I like the idea of nature and mystical things.Like swirling galaxies ^(^ 1 Replies | Report Abuse It deserves a big screen, Irukandji. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse A great review. I can't wait to see this. 8th of July for us. 1 Replies | Report Abuse All good things are worth waiting for. 0 Replies | Report Abuse brilliant review, but i wont see this one 1 Replies | Report Abuse Just curious, rodders. Why not? I hope it was nothing I wrote. 1 Replies | Report Abuse No, it wasn't anything you wrote. I'm sure it's a brilliant film, but it doesn't really sound interesting or appealing to me, and I couldn't see myself paying to watch this 1 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse I know you will love the movie, Ljiljana. 0 Replies | Report Abuse A great review. I haven't seen this film and now that mentioned it, this does look like a thankful watch. It's also interesting how you mentioned the creation of the know universe and the presence of the Lord(I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to seeing him in the beautiful valleys of heaven one day). Anyway, a wonderful job done sir. I do hope you have a wonderful weekend and God bless you. Thanks, come back and see me. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Always appreciate your insight and comments, Dylan. Hope you get a chance to see it soon and enjoy it as much as I did. 0 Replies | Report Abuse good review, looks good! 1 Replies | Report Abuse If you're a fan of Malick, and love movies that expand perception... you've got a treat in store. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Briliant review. My most anticapted film this year 1 Replies | Report Abuse I would love to know what you think of it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Wow, awesome and thoughtful review EG! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Epi. Your opinion is always appreciated. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Terrific review, I liked how you started it. Sounds like a great film, I might see it at the cinema. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, and yes, this is a movie that needs to be seen on a theater screen. The creation segment is absolute cinematic brilliance... the comparison to 2001 wasn't just a throwaway. Thanks for reading and commenting. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review, my friend. So few have been able to see it so its good to read this. It immediately made my TOP 100. You were out for a while when I posted my review a few weeks ago but I'd love to see what you think of it when you have time. Yours is terrific. I loved the whispered voiceovers too. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'll go read it right now. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review EG! This one is most definitely going on 'The List'!... :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse And on my "best of the year" list as well. Thanks. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Looking forward to my second viewing of this as my first one left me a bit empty with all the ambiguity. While I don't mind a film meandering through a story, Tree Of Life felt overbaked, despite it having alot to like. Maybe my second viewing will help me dig it more but fine review nonetheless! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Malick's las film, "The New World,"left me cold the first time... I appreciated it more later. This one I connected to immediately and I too would like to see it again for the sheer enjoyment of the sound and images, much as one might view Koyaanisquatsi, or 2001 repeatedly. But I've encountered those who share your initial opinion. Always happy when you drop by. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review, I'll try and see this when it opens here on Friday 1 Replies | Report Abuse And I will greatly look forward to your comments. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I've heard from many that this one was great. Great review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's not really an easy film, but it's beautiful and it makes you think about things. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds very good. Great review! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Super review. I don't know what to think! Some people say it's awful, some people say it's mediocre, some people say its pretty good, and some people say it's a masterpiece. Who to believe?!?! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Well, Bram, you're going to have to see it for yourself. If you've enjoyed other Terence Malick films, say "Badlands" or "Days of Heaven," than I'm sure you'll like this. I warn you that the narrative structure is less than obvious at first, but immerse yourself in the sounds and images and clarity will come like a revelation. Enjoy. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Well, I was bored stiff by The New World, but that's really not my type of movie. I think (and hope) that I'll like it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

May see it for the principles you referred to. Great descriptions, EG. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's a beautiful presentation also. Criterion does these things so well. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well....the movie sounds.....riveting and great.Outstanding work. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Irukandji, take a break from those bad movies we find so amusing and irritating, and enjoy a small masterpiece. It's like a drink of cool water. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Wow. Sound like a emotional expirence. A great review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Emotional, yes, and it kind of sneaks up on you. Thanks for commenting. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Stupendous review!! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, EG! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Hope you can track down a copy... I think you'd enjoy it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse good review 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, rodders, my friend. 0 Replies | Report Abuse This looks really interesting so I think seeing it would be a plus. Great review Earth Giant. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Wisenheimer. There are so many good films out there... how will we ever see them all? 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review. I'll be wathing this soon as a part of my Japanese film marathon. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh great. I'd like to know some of the other films you have lined up. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I already watched Tokyo Story and The Burmese Harp, and I hope to watch Kwaidan, An Autumn Afternoon, Hiroshi Inagaki's Samurai Trilogy, the film you just reviewed, and a few other ones. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Awesome review. This sounds excellent. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Daniel. It's one of those pictures that builds slowly and little by little draws you in, until by the end, you suddenly realize how totally wrapped up you are in the lives of these people. 0 Replies | Report Abuse im glad you loved it, as i have been meaning to see it for awhile now. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Of course I recommend you do that. I think you'll like it too. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds different! Nice review :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse It is different to be sure... none of the direct intensity of some of the classic Japanese films, but in a subtle way it packs quite a wallop. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review! I have never heard of this one but it looks great! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I was unfamiliar with it myself... just glad I stumbled across it at the video store. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Brilliant review. Thanks for briging this to my attention, seems like a must-see for me 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks for the nice words. Hope you get to see it someday soon. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse I hope you get the chance to see it, Ljiljana. Thanks for dropping by. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds like a very deep, interesting film. Added to my list. Fantastic review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Deep, yes, but subtle... and a film that lingers in the mind. Thanks, Lemonball. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds like a hidden treasure of a movie, one I'll be adding to my list ASAP. Fantastic review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Sure enough, thanks Bill. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review! I watched this one on a plane... great movie! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh, that's great. I hope there wasn't a lot of distraction... there are so many subtleties in it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse i've had this one on my radar for awhile now, glad i now have a greater knowledge of what to expect when i actually get around to watching it, good job EG 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Warchief - it's amazing. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

A real sweet treasure of a movie. Well done! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thank you Bill, that means a lot. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Awesome review. Probably the one great animated film from 2010 I haven't seen yet. Emphasis on the yet. 1 Replies | Report Abuse This is the golden age of animation, isn't it? 1 Replies | Report Abuse Absolutely. I like the good ol' days of Disney, but Pixar and others have taken the crown. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds like an interesting film. Great review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It is, and I appreciate the comment. Thanks. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Gret review. I really want to see it, heard it is a great expierence 1 Replies | Report Abuse It was word of mouth that drew me to it... and the fact that I enjoyed "Triplets of Bellville" so much. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, everyone, I know you will enjoy it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Ah, Ljiljana, my faithful friend, thanks so much. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Your welcome. :D 0 Replies | Report Abuse very interesting review Giant, good job.;) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Fascinating movies are easier to write about, I think. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I've been wanting to see this for a while. I'm not usuallt that crazy about animation, however this is one that really interests me ive really gotta see it 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'm not drawn to animation myself, Steve. (Oops, a pun), but I know there is much fine work being done there. Films like this, Grave of the Fireflies, and Waltzing with Bashir are certainly rewarding. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Wow. Seems like a gem of a film, well worth checking out and no you did not overwrite it. Great review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh, thanks, Myerla. I so rarely give a movie a 100% just after I watch... I'm a little afraid of the "fade factor." But I know this is one I will watch again, with just as much pleasure. Thanks for the kind comment. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review! I've heard this is great! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh, yes... 0 Replies | Report Abuse great review, I want to see this! 1 Replies | Report Abuse And I want to OWN this. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Good review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Compliment from a psycho... always appreciated. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Heard only good things about this animated film! a friend and i were planning to drive an hour to the nearest theater to see a double billing of this and the descendants, alas our plans have fallen through ><, iv heard this picture is getting more bark than it has bite, but looks like that may not be so.... 1 Replies | Report Abuse To see the two films that you mentioned together sounds like a day in cinematic paradise to me. Happy viewing! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Ah, one of the last films I need to see before the Oscars (also War Horse, Marilyn and Albert Nobbs). Hopefully I will get to this one soon especially since you paint is as such a fine film. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I've no venue yet to see Albert Nobbs, Alas. It's beginning to look like I'll be able to catch all the others before Oscar Night. I see this as a good year and a good field. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Seeing this week as my final piece for my Oscar Picks, and I'm hoping this lives up to all the hype around it. Something tells me it will...well done! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I predict you will be delighted, Bill. I hope I didn't oversell it... but to me it was like being stroked with a mink glove (to borrow a phrase). 0 Replies | Report Abuse didn't found it as great as advertised but very bold and masterfully crafted especially if you consider that doing a silent is somewhat a lost artform nowadays. nice write-up 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Ray. It appealed to me in every way, but then I've watched many silents and sort of connected with what Hazavanicius was trying to do. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I heard everything best about this one. Nice review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Panta. I could have made the review longer, but I didn't want to over-analyse. It is simply beautiful and heartfelt. 1 Replies | Report Abuse And I am honestly thankful for that... some people are writing brochures instead of reviews! :-) 0 Replies | Report Abuse A lovely film - took me back to when I watched Chaplin and Harold Lloyd films as a kid on BBC. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I've watched a lot of silents, and appreciate how much love and admiration went into making this. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice..very nice! You have just increased my interest to see this already acclaimed film. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Oh, I hope you do, movie lover that you are... Enjoy! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I agree with every word as well as the rating! I REALLY enjoyed this film and thought it deserved the Oscar! Great review E.G.! -IJ79 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Indy. I WILL be adding this one to my film library. 1 Replies | Report Abuse As will I! Wow, sounds interesting. I'll have to check that out. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Good review, but I can't stand Harmony Korine so I won't be rushing out to see this 1 Replies | Report Abuse Why the dislike for Korine... just curious. Too edgy? 1 Replies | Report Abuse Too self-important. Mister Lonely is one of the worst films I've ever seen and Kids (for which he wrote the screenplay) is total trash 1 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds hard hitting but very interesting. Great review. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Seems very interesting. Good review. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Whoa- this looks interesting. Good review, I like "spriitual core". 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Mr. Taylor. I waited a long time to see this. "Kids," of course, shocked and disturbed me, and it took me a while to see the quality of Korine's work. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Havent heard of this film before, doesnt sound half bad. Good review Giant 0 Replies | Report Abuse I actually have this in my que and have been meaning to see it. Harmony is pretty far out there -- Kids was one of my favorite films of 1995, and Gummo, well, that movie actually kind of freaked me out. Especially the kid at the end in the dirty bathtub eating spaghetti and drinking milk....drinking milk with spaghetti! What kind of a sick f**k drinks milk with spaghetti? Nice review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Well I could handle the milk and spaghetti... it was the dead cats that got to me in Gummo. 0 Replies | Report Abuse haha funny last sentence, and slightly longer than yur usual review 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Jhon. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I have been meaning to watch this after reading a lot about Kerr's performance! Thanks for reminding me EG..am looking this up right away! 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's a class act, Aditya. If I were in the neighborhood, I'd drop by and watch it again with you. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review! I actually really liked this film. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Epi. 0 Replies | Report Abuse This one recently popped up on my radar over Halloween. Good review, I'm adding it to the list. 1 Replies | Report Abuse And there are so many good movies out there I have yet to watch. We live in fortunate times for movie lovers. 1 Replies | Report Abuse You said it! Netflix and Redbox have changed the game! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I too enjoyed this one. Haven't read the book it was based on but this one was eery. Great review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Seems to be universally "liked." 0 Replies | Report Abuse I am planning to see this one in the cinema in Shanghai... Very nice review! Thumbs up, mate! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Panta. So there are revival theaters in Shanghai? 1 Replies | Report Abuse They have from time to time projections of the old movies... but most of the time is involving someone suggesting the movie and then the officials of the cultural centre trying to find them... most of the old films are acceptable. :-) 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

This sounds like a movie I'd enjoy a lot. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I'm sure you would enjoy it, Daniel, maybe on a double-feature movie night. Anyways, brilliant review and I'll be sure to catch this if they replay it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's worth watching for. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Good review, will check it out 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Daniel. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review! It looks pretty good man 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks. So many nice comments.. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well, fantasticly written sir. I haven't heard of this until recently and come to think of it, I could at least go for the old classics form the Golden Age of cinema after being a witness to the cheesy crap Hollywood has been marketing if so. Once again, thanks for the heads up and the description of a good film sir. I do hope you have a wonderful week and God bless you. Thanks, come back and see me. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's always good to hear from you, Dylan. I appreciate you comments. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Been meaning to see this for ages, but did not know anyone else who had seen it. Great review, glad you liked it so much. I will definitely have to see this now. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It would be a good entry for a Halloween DVD party. This sounds pretty cool. I love a good documentary, so I'll have to check this out. Nice review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Dan, I think you'll enjoy it. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse To be padantic Everest is not the worlds tallest mountain as it is only measured from sea level. Mauna Kea is 10000 meters tall but only 4205 meters high as most of it is underwater. Anyway good review. Might check it out if I see it on TV. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Should be 'pedantic.' 1 Replies | Report Abuse I don't mind pedantic... good information, Myerla. And I wanted to be clear that the kids were only attempting to climd Lhakpa-Ri, not the summit of Everest itself, although Weihenmayer did climb the Seven Summits, i.e. the highest peaks on every continent. 2 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review. Interesting, you always come up with non-standard films (at least to me) and that is valuable. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Having seen so many of the standard classics, I'm always on a search for those films of quality that are less well known. Some have described my tastes as esoteric, but perhaps eclectic would be more accurate. I'm happy if I've been able to bring a few good films to your attention. 0 Replies | Report Abuse awesome review! -IJ79 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Indy. Huge fan of fine cinematography so I will add this to my list asap. Never heard of it so thanks for the intro. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Hmm, not on Netflix... 1 Replies | Report Abuse It is very hard to find. I had seen it long ago on Cinemax and wanted to own a DVD copy. I found one on Amazon that I was able to buy. It "smells" old... as if it had been in a warehouse for a while. Hope you can locate a copy. There's a clip on You-Tube that looks as if it was copied for a VHS tape. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Unknown to me...very good find..I have a feeling I will enjoy this. Thanks for the review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse You're welcome. Enjoy. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds good... excellent review... haven't seen this yet! Thumbs up! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Panta. It's well worth tracking down. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I wanna see this one... nice review, my friend! Thumbs up! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Panta. Sorry I haven't posted more lately, and I really need to catch up on your reviews as well. They're always informative and worth reading. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Awesome review and we shouldn't have to wait four years since they are planning two in the space of four years. 1 Replies | Report Abuse That's good news, Jake. Thanks for the kind words. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Loved it very much, myself. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's a complete package... very satisfying. Thanks for reading. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

A fine job done sir. I really did enjoy this film and the film was for the most part, action packed and really humorous if so. Also, I would have to consider this the second best comic book film of the year so far, but that's really just me. Anyway, a great review sir. I do hope you have a wonderful weekend and God bless you. Thanks, come back and see me. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Dylan. It was fun wasn't it. I'm thinking of going with a friend to see it again. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Superhero Summer continues and I'm not on board. Not with Green Lantern, Thor, or Capt. America. Good review but these just aren't for me. 1 Replies | Report Abuse "To each his own" as they say, Mr. T. I like them when they're this well done. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review, but this doesn't seem like my kind of film. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, and I understand, but the audience that does find it will not be disappointed. 0 Replies | Report Abuse great review! I look forward to seeing this! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Indy. I'm planning to see it again tomorrow. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I'm with Mr. Taylor...the whole superhero thing is becoming overtly stale as far as I'm concerned...and that's coming from a comic book fan (though admittedly more Vertigo than Marvel. Great review though:)And hey perhaps Captain A is the one to change my mind... ( though probably not lol..) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Could be the one to change your perspective, Johnny. :) I've seen and enjoyed most of them, but I think the three I mentioned in the review are a cut above. My love for comics goes back to the time my Mom burned up my collection while I was away in the service. She thought I had outgrown them... bad mistake, Mom! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nicely written, good to see Tommy back in the spotlight, have not seen him for a while. Though I think I'll wait until the DVD comes. I was highly unimpressed with "Thor" and "First Class" so I'll wait. 1 Replies | Report Abuse If you didn't like "Thor" and "X Men: First Class" I don't know how you'll take this one, H-guy, but it's definitely a good one for comics to movie fans. I see it as an example of what Hollywood films do best... entertain an audience with a good adventure, and a mix of tears and laughter. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review. Excited to see this next week! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, MM. Enjoy... hope you'll be reviewing it too. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review EG! 1 Replies | Report Abuse I appreciate that, Epi. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds good... all we need is more Super Heroes! :-) Excellent review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yes! ...and in World War II, we all needed Captain America. :) Did you know Cap was fighting Hitler before FDR got on board? Nice to see he'll be teaming up with the new Avengers. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I'm just glad this film has no chauvinistic representation or anything. I might see it. Great review Earth Giant. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Chauvinistic!!! The word's not in my vocabulary... nor should it be in that of any God-fearing American. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review. I'm not the biggest fan of superhero films but I thought the trailer looked intriging and your review here is promosing. I wanna see this one 1 Replies | Report Abuse There's really nothing not to like... it has the flavor of Indiana Jones... knockabout good fun. And it has a heart. I think you'll find it rather moving in the end. 1 Replies | Report Abuse it's defitneily one i'll see in the cinemas 0 Replies | Report Abuse I agree 100% with your rating. Fantastic review Earth Giant! The scene after the credits was so worth it :D 1 Replies | Report Abuse And I even liked the end credits... the World War II posters and such. We've got something to look forward to next year, don't we? Thanks for your remarks, Irukandji. 0 Replies | Report Abuse thoug i didn't like it as much as you, i do feel we are on agreement here, it's simply a good ol' time at the cinema. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Definitely a good time, yet I feel not simply that. Director Johnston has become a master in his use of cinematic techniques. to tell the story well and to involve the viewer. 0 Replies | Report Abuse looks very good, great review Earth Giant.;) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, christos... and thanks for reading. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Another good review for this one. Won't be able to see this one until Friday, but I'm looking forward to it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks TS. We seem to be awash with super-hero films lately, but this is definitely one to watch and enjoy. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Excellent review, cannot wait to see it, one more superhero for me. :D 1 Replies | Report Abuse I love it when the little guy wins out. Thanks for the kind words, Ljiljana. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I didn't like this movie very much at all. I thought Thor was better and First Class was a lot better. My brother liked it though so maybe it's just me. - Gerry from CinematicMethod.com 1 Replies | Report Abuse I guess you have to like the period feel of it to embrace it fully. Of course I like Thor and First Class also... all good films. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Iâ??m certainly looking forward to this film, but not out till Friday for me. Anyway great review Earth Giant, keep it up. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Brad. Hope you enjoy. I've seen it twice now, the second time in 2D. I caught some things I missed, and enjoyed the story just as much this time around. Great visual style. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Good review but I will probably skip this 1 Replies | Report Abuse Well, I wouldn't force you to go, but you'll miss a good time. Thanks for dropping by though. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review EG! I can't say I'm enthralled by this one though... 1 Replies | Report Abuse If you didn't like "Thor" and "X Men: First Class" it's probably not your cup of tea. I appreciate your comment though. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Liked both of those but a character called 'Captain America' isn't really designed to appeal to an Englishman like myself is he... I have nothing against America, it's a very fine place but I don't feel this character would appeal to me... 1 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds pretty good. I intended to see this anyway, but your review makes me feel more positive about it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I think it's doin' pretty good at the box office; it should be around till you get there. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review of a film I've heard mixed things about. Looking forward to checking it out at some point. Oh, and never mind, "Three Cheers for Captian America"...how about Captain Vegetable!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmjLqddPqZQ 1 Replies | Report Abuse LOL! I like Captain Vegetable's carrots, but this is not a good season for green. See you at the movies. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I hope I enjoy this one when I see it. I'm excited for it. Great review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Well, what are you waiting for? Thanks for the comment, Milord. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Totally agree. Great review 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Ze P., I appreciate the comment. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great Review! Can't wait to see it 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, A.I. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review, loved this movie though not as much as X Men: First Class. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I never got around to reviewing that one because of the complicated plot, but I liked it a lot too. 1 Replies | Report Abuse I found it pretty easy to follow but then again I love the X-Men series despite any of its flaws. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Looking forward to this one after reading your review! Excellent one! And I'll wait until the end - I always do... :-) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Panta. It's a good time at the movies. 0 Replies | Report Abuse awesome review, I loved the movie too! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks Indy79. Certainly one of the best of the lot of Marvel comics/pix! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I somehow fail to really like a superhero action film these days...all that enthusiasm got left behind with my childhood I guess! I haven't seen this, but doesn't look like my cuppa tea either. Nice review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Completely understandable, Aditya. But if you did like the genre, this would be the one to see. Thanks for reading and commenting. 0 Replies | Report Abuse "The intergalactic showdown" is awesome. Gets 4/5 from me due to just plain silly fluff but hey, it was a great time. 1 Replies | Report Abuse A great time indeed... popular entertainment done well. 0 Replies | Report Abuse You hit on something very interesting here, EG. The interplay of the characters is the most surprising and most interestign aspect of the movie, and I'm so glad Whedon pulled this off. An excellent film and a great review. Well done! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Bill. That for me is what keeps these Marvel films interesting... the psychology of the characters. That's why last year's "Thor" seemed almost Shakespearean. Thanks for the comment. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great Review! I had a lot of fun with this. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Alex. Wonderful movie. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Still need to see it, even with all the great praise I'm just not really up to seeing it in the theaters. I'll probably catch it on DVD. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

My opinion is a compelte 180 degrees compared to yours but you have a nicely written review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yeah, Hg, I noticed you weren't too fond of it. Usually we're in closer agreement. Sorry. 0 Replies | Report Abuse i'v heard nothing but good things about this film, which is surprising considering the laughable trailer, and with Kenneth Branagh behind the wheel and your enthusiasm, looks like this is one comic book film i need to see. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Hope you like it as much, Warchief. 0 Replies | Report Abuse great review for an excellent movie.;) 1 Replies | Report Abuse As I recall, you liked it too, Christos. One of the most enjoyable I've seen lately. 0 Replies | Report Abuse this was a brilliant film, great review fellow Thor fan 0 Replies | Report Abuse wow, excellent review, I can't wait to watch this! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Fantastic review! Glad you enjoyed it as much as i did! 1 Replies | Report Abuse A great film to start the summer. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Did not like.4/10 from me.Great review though! :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks for your comment. Hope you at least liked it better than some of the Maneater films. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse Good review! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Very good review, still have to see it. :) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Don't wait too long... I'd love to know what you think. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well written. I'm kind of suprised actually i didn't think it looked that good on the trailer but your a pretty trustworthy person so prehaps i should check it out 1 Replies | Report Abuse Wow, Steve! Hope I don't betray your trust. Go in looking for a good time, and I think you'll have one. 0 Replies | Report Abuse now I counted 2 so far who loved it...maybe I might see it....lol 1 Replies | Report Abuse ap, what are you waiting for? You could make it 3. :) 0 Replies | Report Abuse All in all, the consensus seems to be that this is a pretty good flick. I'll check it out. Great review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Happy if I could add to that consensus. It's a great movie-going experience. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great review! This is a classy film - maybe the best superhero film 0 Replies | Report Abuse Definitely worth a watch. Nice review 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice review Earth Giant! Didn't like it quite as much, but thought is was pretty good nonetheless... 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, AndysFilms - I don't know... It was just a completely satisfying experience to me. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Sounds like a fine summertime action flick, one I'm looking forward to seeing once the crowds thin down a bit. Nicely done! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Bill. You'll have a good time. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Great Review! I had fun with this 1 Replies | Report Abuse I think it was that element of fun that sealed it for me too. Thanks. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I liked it as well. Great review! 0 Replies | Report Abuse A well written review sir. This is by golly, so far, the best comic book adaptation of 2010. I have been a long time comic book reader, and this somewhat is a decent take on Stan Lee's original stories if so. A great job done sir. It was nice to meet you. Have a good week and keep up the good work. Thanks, come back and see me. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Glad you liked it too, and thanks for the visit to my reviews page. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Your Welcome. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Very high score... wow... I'll trust you on this one... on my list! Excellent review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Some reviewers have quibbled that there are no major actors here.... ridiculous, the supporting cast is full of our finest character actors, Willem Dafoe, Samatha Morton, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic Cooper and Mark Strong. Lynn Collins as the Martian princess is a major find. And anyone who followed Taylor Kitsch's work on the TV series "Friday Night Lights" would know he has exactly what it takes to play the stalwart Burroughs' hero. It is exactly his natural solid charisma that makes this hundred 1 Replies | Report Abuse It is exactly his natural solid charisma that makes this hundred year old vehicle seem so up to date. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Wow, great review! Do you think the movie is better than WALL-E or Finding Nemo? 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, Johnny. WALL-E was great - and great science fiction too. I prefer John Carter, but probably because I'm not a huge fan of animated features. And JC had certain epic proportions that appeal to me. Nemo I have yet to watch. 0 Replies | Report Abuse I have no interest, but great review none the less! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks for dropping by, Indy. 0 Replies | Report Abuse Well, I know you like to "go big or go home" sometimes and this is probably a good example of that. I can't say I'm going to check it out anytime soon but the SFX look pretty good. Thanks for the review all the same sir! 1 Replies | Report Abuse This really is a delightful film, Mr. Taylor, and the director knows exactly what he's doing. But people tend to find the films they like. I know you're more of a serious drama guy. I'm just happy it surpassed my expectations. I'm already planning a return trip. 0 Replies | Report Abuse hmmm... i was thinking bout going to see this this week even though i've no real interest in it.......your enthusiasm for it has convinced me to go for sure now...... plus i hate seeing movies bomb like this one is so far at the boxoffice >< 1 Replies | Report Abuse I think it's a bit early to call John Carter a bomb. It opened in second place with $30 million plus domestically. These major studio epics tend to recover their costs through worldwide distribution anyway, especially when they're as good as this. I suspect word of mouth will give it some legs too. There's really nothing not to like. It's a quality film and ever so much fun to watch. Let me know if you're not delighted. 1 Replies | Report Abuse yes-sir will do EG! 0 Replies | Report Abuse wow, one rare defender of John Carter. I think we saw two different films^^. Taylor Kitsch was ok but most of the rest (except for the "dog") were badly acted and better stereotypes. The effects were decent but the plot dragged along and there wasn't really much going on. I have also a problem with a world scientifically so inaccurate... I tried to cut this out but it stayed in the back of my mind. You're right about the 3D though, you literally couldn't tell wouldn't you wear the glasses. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks for the comments, ray. Yes, I loved this film, and I'm into the John Carter books now too. I think a lot of people didn't recognize how carefully this was crafted. It's a grand adventure, beautiful to look at as well, and a movie I will add to my film library some day. 1 Replies | Report Abuse By the way, you mentioned some bad acting. I didn't see that in a rather large cast, but you must admit that Lynn Collins (as Dejah Thoris) is a major find. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |
