After reading all of the bad reviews and hate directed towards this movie, I decided I would check it out for myself. Man did I REGRET it! Battlefield Earth is the most horrible looking, ill-written, poorly acted (and I mean POORLY acted) piece of s*** movie I have ever seen, and I have seen some doozies.
Where to start? Ok, the special effects. The settings were horrible looking and unrealistic. It's like a 1st grade class put them up or something. The CG looked like the SyFy channel original movies they spit up every week. I know this was made in the year 2000, but come on! The Matrix had much better Special Effects, and that movie was made a year before this one! The plot is just, well, basic for a Sci-Fi movie. It's in the future and hostile aliens have taken over, and now humanity is an endangered species. So now a bunch of humans want to take back the world from the aliens blah blah blah. The movie could have been tolerable if there was at least some decent writing behind it, but alas, there was none. Now the acting. Ok, I've seen some wooden acting, especially from Sci-Fi movie, but this, this was just so awful! It's like the cast just said, "F*** It!" and gave up trying. It was that bad.
Even with a decent budget and lead actors like John Travolta (who was probably the worst actor in this entire movie) and Barry Pepper (almost as bad) couldn't stop this movie from being a box-office bomb. The writing, plot, effects, and most of all acting, was bad in every department. But hey, at least this movie was famous for something: Being one of the worst films ever made. I only gave it a 10% because of how famous it is for being bad.
Bottom line: DO NOT WATCH!!!!!!!! There should be a label on all copies of this movie saying: DO NOT WATCH. It's just not worth putting yourself through
