so Poltergeist is a horror film from the 80's that was directed by Tobe Hooper and Produced by Steven Speilberg which would have made me think that they would have made a better movie.

This is often regarded as a horror classic or maybe even one of the best and i have to say i strongly disagree. Well it's a flim about ghost possesion and trying to drive a ghost out of a house and all that and i guess thats what it is.

I just thought it was extremely corny like the part when the tree goes through the window and takes the girl is one of the most ridiculous things ive seen in a movie before, i think it looked better on Scary Movie 2 lol. That clown thing was also extremeley corny, the special effects were prety bad in this and you cant say its becuase they're old becuase theres movies as old as this that did it better. I dont no whether this is ment to be scary or not but it just is not in anyway.

The reason i give this atleast 50% is because i guess its a good try but it could have been alot better, it had maybe a couple of allright horror scenes that were done pretty well but also alot that were just stupid. Usally i love any film that's considered a horror classic but for some reason not this one i dont no it's weird but i pretty much hated this.

Its a horror that is far from horrifying or even close to being it, the acting was good enough, but as far as this being the best ghost horror i have to disagree. I no everyone loves this but yea just not me i think its one of the most overrated horror's ever in my honest opinion!!

I watched this when I was a kid...loved it then...watched it like 100 times... and still have a hard time turning the channel when it's on. I guess I just have a history with this one. Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much.

I found it a very good, but not too frightening, horror film. I would rate it twice the number you gave it... still, this is a pretty good review, great job

i actually did like that scene, like i said "maybe a couple of alright horror scenes", but one or two scenes is not enough for me to agree that the wole movie was solid because i just dont think it was!

Great review Steve!! I have to admit you are absolutely right. I think people regard this a classic horror film is because of one word "Speilberg". You tell em Steve!!!

cheers! im glad someone actually agrees, and yea that could be the reason we also have our legendery director of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacare" Tobe Hooper working on this film, but that still doesnt mean poltergiest is good lol.

This was very clever but not great. It had a good story and kept you in suspense. Certainly not rotten. I appreciate your point of view though. Nice work......

.I too disagree. I saw this June 4, 1982 and it scared the shit out of me. Especially that damn clown. The effectiveness of the movie is character ( we like and are involved with the Freeling family's plight to save Carol Ann ) and the setting of the movie in a normal suburban home. Not a typical haunted house. Brings the horror down to earth, makes it more palatable to audiences....

I saw the whole trilogy a few months ago and now they seem pretty stupid and not scary at all, but watching them as a kid I was so scared!!! Zelda Rubinstein as Tangina Barrons was one of the reasons I wanted to see them again!!! I agree with your rating since, for me, it's effect has faded away and is one of those horror films that have an expiration date ;) Great review ;)
