I've heard all the praise possible for Mad Max. That it's among the top films of the 70's (or at least the top action films) and how it's one of the best dystopian/post apocalyptic films ever. No, it's not. I can think of a bunch of dystopian films 10 times better than this. There's little that I like about Mad Max. I like the ending, where Mel Gibson gets becomes "Mad" Max and starts killing the bikers. I also love the credits, because that means I'm done sitting through the movie. That's basically where my enjoyment ends.
This film is just so boring. I nearly fell asleep multiple times while trying to watch it. The "action" is dull and less entertaining than the back of my eyelids, which is why I had to force myself to not switch to watching that. There's also way too many stretches without dialog which is perfectly fine for some movies, but unbearable in this one. And when there is dialog, it's as dull as the action and none of the actors know how to deliver it. Especially Mr. Gibson.
Mad Max is an extremely dull and boring sci-fi film that about as exciting and engaging as my TV when it's turned off. No stunts or action in it are entertaining and the film doesn't have the assistance of clever or even mediocre dialog when the action isn't going on. Mad Max is just the like the world in it. Nothing but a dry, barren desert with only a few streets to get from one place to another.
