Halle Berry plays a widow who befriends her late husband's heroin-addicted best friend, Benicio Del Toro. The film focuses on the grief of the main characters and also on Del Toro's attempts to be clean of heroin.
The film is beautifully acted; Berry and Del Toro are excellent and the young actors who play Berry's two children are great too. But unfortunately it is rather dull! It seems over-long and the relationship between Berry and Del Toro is very implausible. I lost interest pretty early on.
I found that Genova (starring Colin Firth) was a much more believable depiction of grief.
