Every one of these lists has Don Vito Corleone as #3. Although, yours is the first I've seen that doesn't have Hannibal Lecter as #1.

The Most Important Part of a Film

Well, in my opinion every part of a film is important. The beginning introduces the characters, the middle develops the plot and the ending closes the story, so O guess every part is important. BUt I think that maybe the middle is the most important part, because it develops the plot as I said.

Mmmm, I took it a different way. I would say the writing. Even a good director can't overcome a bad screenplay, nor can many actors make a poorly written script into a good performance.

Screenplay. The screenpaly controls the entire story--dialogue, characters, plot, settings, twists, everything. There is no good movie with a terrible screenplay. If your talking about into, middle, and end. Well honestly it should be the inrto. The inrto needs to grabs the audience's attension and make the story interesting.Besides that, it should be the message of the film. If not, then of course the script.

To me, there is no "most important part" but one part that practically guarantees that your film will suck if you don't have a good one is screenplay. I cannot tell you how many films I have seen with incredible actors who usually do amazing films but becasue of the screenplay, the whole movie sucks. that's my two cents.

I think the ending is really important. I mean a movie could be really great, but have a terrible ending. Like the newest Indiana Jones movie, I would have like it more if it weren't for the aliens in the end. Like if it turned out that Andy was a robot at the end of Shawshank Redemption, I would not have liked it as much.

Of course what you guys said are all extremely important, and thank you for commenting. But think about it. In my opinion, it's extras. In Citizen Kane, there wouldnt be anybody to be at his governer's speech. In Saving Private Ryan, there are at least 1,000 people on the beach. And about 30 have lines. In sports movies there wouldnt be anyone in the crowd, cheering Rocky on. If you really think about it. Extras are very important. Of course in general, screenplays and direction are very important. But if you look deep, really deep, it's extras. I know it sounds kinda stupid but there it is. Thanks a bunch for commenting.

i get what u wanna say....but ultimately it al depends on the kinda film...Take Memento....i mean for that particular movie Screenplay is the winner.....For Inglorious Basterds - Screenplay, Art direction(Detailing), Actors(May contain extras, for ex in the basement scene, or the theatre scene)......it al depends on the movie u r making....what say???

Forrest Gump - newsreel footagePrivate Ryan - any extra that did anything interesting was a stunt man, not an extra.Citizen Kane - I don't even remember any extras other than Kane giving a speech in front of a giant picture of his own head! The could have put any stock footage of a crowd cheering in that scene.Rocky - Sports crowds? That's probably the only time extras do anything that you couldn't replace with a dummy.James Bond - The people that turn their heads and look at Bond run past them? Does anyone even notice them?Star Wars - What extras? Their either computer generated in the prequels or they are stunt men in the battle scenes.Goal - No extras. The game footage is lifted from actual soccer games.Braveheart - Any extra that did anything was a stunt man.Up in the Air - So your cousin sat on a chair in an airport? I wonder how long the director wrestled with the idea of whether to put a person in that spot or a potted plant.I haven't seen the rest, but I know lots of people who have been extras. Basically the amount of artistic thought that goes into an extra is the director saying, "You! Go stand over there... no not you blondie, I mean the fat guy!" There are props that are more important to a movie.

Directing. There are movies that have no screenplay, or no actors, or no sets, or possibly even none of the above, and they can still be interesting if the director has some imagination. Of course a film can be dominated by other outstanding elements, like an amazing actor, screenplay or cinematographer, but the director still has to be smart enough to step back and allow those other strengths to shine through.

I believe that the narrative, the screenplay and substance are the most important aspects of a film. But most of all I believe that the climax is the most important aspect of a film, it must be satisfiying. Half way through I felt that American Beauty (1999) was a decent film but by the end I felt nothing but power and raw emotion. Initially I found Goodfellas (1990) to have a very slow pace but by the end it felt satifiying enough to become one of my favourite movies.

Megan Fox: She can't act. But she sure is hot. Known for Transformers.

Hayden Panettiere: Simply beautiful. Famous for I love you Beth Cooper and Heroes.

Jessica Alba: My # 1 celeb crush. Know for Good Luck, Chuck and The Love Guru.

Anna Kendrick. There's just something about her. Know for Up in the Air and Twilight.

Mirnada Kerr: Smokin hot model: Known for modeling.

Brookyln Decker: Another beautiful model: Known for modeling.

Jennifer Garner: Very pretty: Known for Juno and The Kingdom

Eva Longoria Parker: Everyone Knows her: Known for Desperate Housewives

Olivia Wilde: Enough said: Known for Alpha Dog

Anne Hatheway: I'm running out of words: Known for Valentines Day and Get Smart

Kate Winslet: Sometimes: Known for Titanic

Emily Blunt: Beautiful: Known for Dan in Real Life and Wolfman

Almost all Bond girls with a few exceptions: Of course

Finally: Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in the prime.

    Thanks! - Hollywood

Not trying to be negative. Just pointing out that you haven't seen all the greatest movies yet, especially foreign ones. You're actually lucky because you have some awesome movies ahead of you.

Oh man. I wouldn't really know what you have seen exactly, except that these are 10 movies that everybody has seen. At least you don't have Shawshank Redemption up there. So anyway have you seen these American movies:Dr StrangeloveKiller of SheepNorth by NorthwestTouch of EvilThe Magnificent AmbersonsBlade RunnerAliensPulp Fiction12 Angry MenThe Good the Band and the UglyOnce Upon a Time in AmericaTaxi DriverThe Killing of a Chinese BookieParis TexasWild at HeartTrue RomanceThe KillingBarry LyndonNo Country For Old MenBlood SimpleDouble IndemnityThe CrowdSunriseThat's enough, I would much rather recommend foreign films, since they are usually superior to American ones.

Yeah, a buddy of mine hated No Country as well. Funny how the Coen Brothers are like that. For me, it was A Serious Man that I couldn't stand, and yet other people say it's brilliant.

solid list, the honorable mentions are a couple of odd choices. Definitely a shallow pool you are fishing from. That's why it's difficult to make a list like this if you haven't seen a lot of films. You really need to relish different periods of film history and different countries as well.

    My Personal Favorites

    Posted on 07/05/10 06:15 PM | Last edited on 07/05/10 06:15 PM

This is a list of my favorite films, favorite directors, and favortie performances. Key word favorite. Im not saying they are the best of all time. They are all personal favorites. In honor of The Rotten Tomatoes Show Top 5 feature.

    Films:

    1. It's a Wonderful Life: Magical. Truly magical. James Stewart's performance is so honest and real. He plays his part perfectly. It's my all time favorite film.

    2. The Shining: Here's Johnny! Wendy I'm home! Little pigs let me come in! Filled with amazing quotes from Stanley Kubrick's amazing script. Just awesome. Directed

by Stanley Kubrick he makes you feel like you are at The Overlook Hotel with an amazing performance from Jack Nicolson. Such a great and terrifying film.

    3. Up in the Air: Witty, fresh, hilarious, charming, charismatic, funny, sweet, clean, sophisticated, all of the above. Best film of 2009. Best film of the decade.

    4. James Bond Saga: Bond........ James Bond. I fell in love with the series and I don't think I will ever fall out. It's so awesome. Hot girls, amaing action, suave and

sophistication. James Bond is the word's coolest guy. Hands down. He'll escape Goldfinger, make love with beautiful women, and have a martini all in 5 minutes.

    5. Shutter Island: It's directed by Martin Scorcese and it scares the hell out of me. Probably more than any other film than The Shining. It's so well directed, so well acted,

such a good ending. Pretty awesome.

    6. Saving Private Ryan: Every time I see it I tear up. It's that brutal and realistic. It's that good. Such a realistic, emotional, great look at WW2.

    7. Forrest Gump. Its Forrest Gump!!

    8. Really dumb comedies including: Walk Hard the Dewey Cox Story, Hot Rod, Ausin Powers series etc. So funny!

    9. The Breakfast Club: Best cheesy 80's movie ever!

    10. All About Eve: So smart. so funny, so sophisticated.

Honorable Mentions: Psycho, Some Like it Hot, Juno, Dark Knight, Zodiac, and Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures.

    Favorite Directors

    1. Stanley Kubrick: The Shining and 2001 could inspire someone who has never seen a film to become a film director. He's that good. His documentary was great, he

is great. Stanely Kubrick, I bow down to you.

    2. Steven Speilberg

    3. Alfred Hitchcock

    4. Jason Reitman

    5. David Fincher

    Honorable Mentions: Edward Zwick

    Performances:

    1. Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight

    2. Jack Nicholson in The Shining

    3. Jack Lemmon in Some Like it Hot

    4. Up in the Air cast

    5. Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump
