Original,Intelligent,Sad,Beautiful and TRUTHFUL! Yes, all of this is 500 Days of Summer and it is definetly one of the biggest film surprises of 2009.

If youre seeking just another populist, cliché and nice romantic comedy, then this isnt the stuff for you. The film is more about how relationships work in real life, what they bring, what they take and who they hurt. How beautiful and motivating reality can be, and at the same time how it can be sad and full of false hopes, how we tend to lie to ourselves just so that our life would make sense. It shows us that we usually don't have the ability to see into someone's head, that sometimes when you look into his/her eyes you are simply sure that the person is the right one, that you see the potential to give them your love, and to receive theirs, but sometimes it doesn't work vice versa and that sometimes the people make decisions which don't really have a reason, and that hurts us.

The story is basically all about the ups and downs of love and relationships in general. Mainly due to the brilliant performance of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you come to care about the character of Tom (especially the male part of audience) and therefore the movie creates a unique atmosphere when Tom somehow passes his emotions onto you. This means that when he is in love, he fills you with all the positive energy and the fact that you feel as if anything is possible, or he makes you feel negative and reminds you just how much it can hurt. On the other end we have the great Zooey Deschanel who perfectly managed to capture the type of woman that can give men such a hard time and make them become completely lost in the illusions and false hopes of love. Thanks to the great music, screenplay and intelligent dialogues, the movie becomes near perfect in its genre. The story is very original and salute great respect to Mark Webb as it is his first film. The unique way the movie is made in will be definetly adapted by other romantic comedies in the future.

Beautiful movie! An amazing tragic feel-good film (if that's possible). What movie is Joseph Gordon-Levitt even just mediocre in?! Great review.
