In this sequel to the underwhelming Twilight, the story starts to take a little bit of a darker turn. As the new moon means that you see no moon at nighttime, The Twilight Saga: New Moon chronicles the darkest times of Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) life.

Sometime after the events of the first installment, Bella's 18th birthday is coming up. Her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), has his adopted family throw a birthday party at their house. All goes well until Bella accidentely cuts her finger. Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), who isn't as resistant to the scent of bllod as the others, attempts to attack her, but is pushed back by Edward. Feeling that Bella would be safer without them, Edward and the Cullens decide to leave Forks.

Bella is left heartbroken and depressed for months. However, once she spends time with Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and develops feelings for him, she begins to cheer up. But it was not to last. Soon, something happens to Jacob: he becomes a werewolf. Meanwhile, Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), another vampire, is hunting Bella down, wanting vengeance for Edward killing her lover in the previous film. After a thrill ride by cliff diving, the Cullens believe that she is dead. However, Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene), comes to look for her, fearing the worst. When Bella finds out that Edward plans to provoke the Volturi, a group of old vampires, to kill him, she must go to Italy to stop him from going to his own death.

The story is about lost love. But it is not done in a realistic way. Yes, Bella was depressed when Edward left her, but she didn't even shed a tear over the breakup and she stayed in a depressed state of mind for about three months. Normally, I think it should take only a month to fully get over a breakup. Of course, what do I know? I've never been in a relationship and therefore have never been dumped. Then there is the finding another boyfriend. There is a little bit of good chemistry between Bella and Jacob, more so than Bella and Edward. Jacob is the much better choice between the two, but Bella always sticks with Edward.

The acting is not good. Bella is just the selfish girl who gets all depressed over Edward's departure. Edward Cullen doesn't get much screen time as he does in the previous film, not counting Bella's hallucinations of him, but is just there for his craving and screaming fangirls. Taylor Lautner's Jacob is at least better than Robert's Edward, but is just pure eye candy to the obsessed fangirls thanks to being shirtless plenty of times. Billy Burke is the only actor who even gives a little bit of life in the acting. The rest of the cast I don't really care for.

Twilight fans will probably like this better than the first, but it's just a crapfest for everyone else.

Come on! No way this is better than the first one. It's far from it. NOTHING happens here; it's a filler episode.
