    Source Code (2011)

"What would you do if you had less than a minute to live?"

That was one of many questions asked in Source Code. I was not expecting this film to be great, but I was sooooo wrong! I absolutely loved Source Code. The story is really what drives this film. Source Code is about a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong! As the movie progresses the plot becomes thicker and thicker with twists and turns around every corner! So lets get started.

Acting: Without the great preformances this movie would of not be good. Jake Gyllenhaal's preformance was amazing, flawless, outstanding, etc. He really delivered here. His suporting cast also did an excellent job. I have never seen Michelle Monaghan in a film before and at first I kinda did not like her character but, like the rest of the film, her preformance gets better as it goes on. Vera Farmiga, on the other hand, I have seen in other movies. Her emotions she displayed really made me like her even more. The other passangers on the train did really well for their small parts.

Direction: I have liked Duncan Jones the second Moon ended. After seeing Source Code I want to see him more and more. Hopefully his story Mute will be a film after it is released as a graphic novel. Anyway, his direction in this film was outstanding! He had great suspense, great character development, he displayed the plot fantasticly, and the film never slowed down. I really liked the way the film looked throughout and the camera angles used inside the source code. The film becomes very emotional at points and Duncan Jones made these scenes hit home. I almost cried! He is moving up my list of favorite directors.

Lastly, I loved this film and I was not expecting the twists. My heart was racing and my mind was thinking. 100%!!!

"You know, you really don't need a forensics team to get to the bottom of this. If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook."

One of my favorite lines from this amazing film. As you all know this is a movie about Facebook and its complications during the making of it. At first I didn't want to see this movie, not one bit, but I decided to finally watch it after the awards given to it. Thank God I did!! I loved this film and Ill tell you why....

Acting. Jesse Eisenberg was a great casting choice to play Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook. He deliverd his lines with great sophistication and wit. I mostly watched this film because of him. One actor I am starting to really like is Andrew Garfield. He was my favorite character in the film. His preformance was flawless! I related most to his character and felt his pain at moments. The other actors and actresses did great to.

Direction/Writting. The film was very beautiful and the cinematography was outstanding, I liked the angles and color use. The film was directed by David Fincher who also did films like Fight Club, Se7en, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I am also starting to like Fincher a lot more. His direction was great with its great appeal and the way it played throughout. He kept a movie about Facebook very intertaining and emotional. The script was written by Aaron Sorkin. His script was what probaly made the movie fantastic. His conversations he created were marvelous. Each character felt very relatable and the actors deliverd the conversations perfectly. I will like to see more of his scripts in the future.

All in all, I loved this movie! It could go on my top ten, but I will have to look over my list more. THIS IS A GREAT FILM. 100%

I agree completely. This and Inception were the two films that really blew me away last year, although I liked Inception more. Anyways, I Jesse Eisenberg's performance was my favorite of any actor, all year long, so I think it's dissapointing that he lost to Colin Firth, even though Firth was amazing in The King's Speech. Everything about the film was top-notch and after watching this film, I had instantly become excited for the new Spider-Man movie. I believe Andrew Garfield will blow us awa

    Unstoppable (2010)

Unstoppable was one hell of a roller coaster ride! With its twists, turns, and suspense it makes it one of the best movies of the year. I did not expect a thing going into this movie, I thought it was going to be really cheesy and stupid, but boy was I 100% wrong.

Unstoppable is about a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals that is heading for a town and could destroy it in seconds. A conductor and his engineer have to chase down this train before its to late. Its a race against time.

The acting by Denzel Washington and Chris Pine was off the charts! Their chemistry was great to see on screen. Later in the film the chemistry grows and grows! The supporting cast is also fantastic. We have Rosario Dawson, Ethan Suplee, Kevin Dunn, Kevin Chapman and many more familiar faces. Everyone did a great job portraying thier emotions and thoughts throughout the film.

The direction by Tony Scott was flawless and I mean flawless! There are barley any CGI shots, almost all destruction scenes are real. The visuals where great and the camera shots where done really well. I liked the side shots of the trains and the head on view of them to. The whole duration of the film I was on the edge of my seat, my heart was pounding, and I even saw people covering their eyes at some parts. Also, I loved how they used full sized trains even if they are getting destroyed or not. The sound was also really good. You could feel when the trains speed right past you and the explosions/destruction.

I have never seen a movie that has made my heart pound throught and for that I applaud Tony Scott and everyone who was involved in making this film. This was a great piece of film making and is one of the best films of the year. Go see Unstoppable, it is an adrenaline filled ride!

    My final rating 90%!!!!

Monsters is a very unique love story about an American journalist trying to find his bosses daughter in infected Mexico and escort her to the US Border to safety. This film was very good and was shot fantasticly. I think the story is told by its amazing visuals and camera work. Scenery is a huge factor in this film, like the forests, destruction, and the quarantined zones in Mexico. I applaud the director on only making this film on his laptop.

The acting was also amazing. I have never seen these two actors in a film before, but I hope I see them in bigger more publicized movies in the future. Their chemistry throught the movie grows bigger and bigger because they start knowing that they need each other. Some times the acting is slow, but when is it ever perfect.

I really liked the story and how it was shown. I loved how the aliens were barley seen throughout, but when they are the scenes are quiet and intense. The visuals (like I said above) tell this story. Every scene is so well shot and the scenery of the events are powerful. There was very little music in this film, but the quietness adds to the story.

Go see this movie and really pay attention to not the actors, pay attention to the visuals and maybe you will see what I am talking about. This is now one of my favortie monster movies! FINAL VERDICT 90%!

    The Town (2010)
    Genre:
    Drama
    100%

    Posted on 10/04/10 04:00 PM

Greatest hiest film of all time? 100% Yes! (in my opinion) When I first saw the trailer to this film I was like this looks like it would be cool, then the day came when I saw it. This was an AMAZING film!! This film is probaly the most realistic hiest film I have seen. The story never drags, it keeps you very interested through out the film and the action scenes are INTENSE!

First, lets start off with the plot. The Town is about a bank robber named Doug MacRay played by Ben Affleck and his group of hiest"es" that live in a town in Boston called Charlestown. Mostly all of the big shot bank robbers live in this town. So, when the film begins we are shown a bank hiest happening and the men take Claire (Rebecca Hall) hostage. Soon after MacRay develops a semi-serious realtionship with Claire, but she doesn't know he was the one who robbed her bank and took her hostage. MacRay knows that his luck will not last forever, so he is looking for one last big heist that will give him the chance to leave the town and never look back. But no one will let him, especially, his right-hand man "Jem" James Coughlin (Jeremy Renner); because he believes that it would be a personal betrayal to him, and he is not going to allow that.

Next, the acting. Ben Affleck was fenomanle in his role with a perfect Boston accent. His character is so realatable you feel for him during his times of strugle. Jeremy Renner's role as Jem. He was perfect for "the crazy guy" on the team. He is so ruthless in this film you wanna yell "Don't do that!" during the action scenes. Those two characters where the most memorable during the film.

Finally, the directing. My God Ben Affleck you CAN direct! The setting was great, the story was great, the acting was fantastic, and the action was heart pounding!

All in all. YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FILM. 100%

    500 Days of Summer (2009)
    Genre:
    Drama
    100%

    Posted on 9/02/10 03:36 PM

This is not a love story, nor is it a romatic comedy. This is reality at its fulliest. I was suprised when watching this film because I don't like stories about a boy and a girl that fall in love. This is completly diffrent than typical "love stories" because it feels real or what real life relationships are like. Anyway below is my review.

500 Days of Summer is about Tom played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who works at a greeting card company who thinks when he finds "the one" he will know it. Then Summer played by Zooey Deschanel comes along and Tom thinks that for sure she is the one. Summer though, thinks that love doesn't exists, but Tom thinks otherwise and tries to convince her that it does exists.

The way the plot and movie is set up is that before every scene there is a number like (164) shown and that represents the day Tom is with Summer. It usally flashes from a high number to a lower one. I love this idea and I thought it was played out brillantly throught the movie. There is a lot of comedy, but it is realistic comedy that is really relatable and funny.

The acting was fantastic! I haven't seen a lot with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but I am starting to like him a lot. His character Tom is like every man that has been through a realationship and many (including myself) can directly relate to his thoughts and actions. Next, we have Zooey Deschanel who I have only seen her in is Yes Man. She is also really good playing her role.

Marc Webb as really made a good first impresion on me. I can't wait for his Spider Man movie. This film was a great start for his film making carrer and I will want to see more of him on projects.

That is all I have to say about this fantastic film. GO SEE (500) Days of Summer!!!!

People don't really understand this movie. I know its over the top, but isn't that what comic books are like. I was a fan of the Punisher comics and I loved this comic book movie. This is how a Punisher film should be him killing the mob for god reasons. Ray Stevenson played Frank Castle spot on. The acting was okay. The plot could of been better. I don't know why critics don't like it. They should all read the comics THEN watch this and then they will be like oh s*** this is exactly like the comic. Great comic book movie (if you have read the comics).

It is just like the max series. The 2004 one is not a good portrayl of Frank Castle

Yet another great film directed by Christopher Nolan. This is a movie that you have probaly never seen before. It is in reverse. Yes reverse. The story is what drives this film. A mans wife gets murdered and he tries to figure who killed her, but theres a twist he can't remember! Because he has short term memory loss. So he has to find out who the killer is by his polaroid pictures. What makes this film so gripping is trying to figure out what is happening. As it goes on the plot gets put together piece by piece. You actually feel like you have short term memory loss. The acting by Guy Pearce is phenomenal! You really get the angry feeling that he gets trying to figure out WTF is going on and who killed his wife. This is a fantastic film. You mind will be pushed to its limits and you will be talking about for a long time.

The Crazies is a movie about a small town that gets not infected but zombie like people that only want to kill not eat others. It is not super gory like most new horror movies. This film I thought was more of a suspense horror movie than anything. The scenery after the sickness hits looks really good in my opinion. The plot is actually pased really well. Timothy Olyphant did the best acting out of all the actors and actresses in the movie. I think he does really good in a movie where he is a cop. There are a few jump scenes and some scenes are really just creepy. All in all, I suprisingly enjoyed this film its a fun "edge of your seat" suspense/horror movie.

    Inception (2010)

FANTASTIC! Thats what this movie is. This film will probaly change Sci-Fi films and movies altogether (in my opinion). I have never had a movie make me still think about it all day! Seriously if you do not pay attention you will be lost. This is Nolan's masterpiece. I don't know how you can give it a rotten review.

Lets start with the plot. Cobb (Dicaprio) and his partners have to plant an idea in a young mans mind (inception) instead of taking his secrets from his mind (extraction). There are diffrent roles that each person has which "developes" the dream world so the person's mind that is being affected thinks its real life. The pacing is amazing, it never slows down. You get more and more information as the movie plays out. There are actually many things going on besides the main mission (story) that makes the movie even more intriguing. I thought the ending was so spell bounding that it made me shake with excitement.

Next, the acting. Dicaprio and others i forgot their names(sorry) did an OUSTANDING job. The character development is great and the other characters are just as important as Dicaprio's. They also played their jobs fantasticly and looked the part to. Their emotional responses are really good to.

The direction was phenominal. Nolan yet again wow(ed) us with his talent in directing and screen writting. The visuals were top notch and realistic looking. The story is superb and is so well done it is better than a book. I applaud Nolan's writting talent. He is a mastermind!

This movie WILL make you think. You WILL be talking about for many years. Nolan has seriously planted a idea in my head.

This is THE perfect film of all time! YOUR MIND WILL BE AFFECTED.
