Shutter Island in my opinion is easily one of the most underrated movies in the last few years. It is both intellectually and visually compelling, so why has it been so hit or miss with critics then? Most negative reviewers say that they apparently guessed the twist before it was revealed. Guess what? I went into the movie sure I knew what the twist was, turns out I was right but it kept me guessing and unsure if I was correct until it finally is revealed. Do not mistake Shutter Island for a simple twist movie, this is a Scorsese film not a M. Night film. The film is defiantly meant to be watched more than once, and its almost as fun the second time around. There is an incredible amount of depth and detail surrounding this film that I am absolutely baffled that many critics couldn't appreciate it.

Another side note: DeCaprio's acting is brilliant in this movie, he has my full support for a nomination for best actor at the Oscars this year. If he isn't nominated then I will officially give up on humanity.

    Inception (2010)

Inception is one of the more creative and intriguing movie concepts that I have heard of in a long time. In a movie era where remakes are at least half of what we see this movie was very refreshing. Inception has some really great things going for it besides the concept: The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is absolutely amazing, the special effects are top notch, it has a very intriguing world to explore, and its well acted for the most part. The plot is not great, but its still relatively good and always keeps you interested and wondering "what's coming next?" The ending, although hated by many casual movie goers, I felt was perfect for this type of movie and executed well. However at the same time Inception is not quite a perfect movie; the characters (besides Cobb and his wife) seem shallow, it's like they are just there to move the plot along and they aren't terribly interesting. Leonardo DiCaprio had another good performance and his character is really the only source of emotion in this movie. Still, easily a top 3 movie this year for me. Well done Nolan.

Let me start off by saying the X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a complete disaster of a film. I saw this movie for free (I work at a movie theater) and I still felt like I got ripped off. I actually thought the last three x-men movies were decent and it was obvious to me that they didn't even try on this one. The special effects had to have been done by a local high school. They looked like an abomination. If you think the special effects were good than do a google image search of wolverine's claws... just pathetic. The action scenes weren't exciting at all, they were just cheesy. The boxing match, the fight with his brother, the final battle... none of them were exciting. I mean when I saw Ryan Reynold's character spinning his swords around deflecting bullets I was like "... really?". I realize its a superhero movie and all but thats just stupid. Overall it felt like the story was moving way too fast and it didn't draw me in at all. I remember when his wife "died" I didn't feel anything. When I watch a good movie, it makes me emotionally invested in the characters and I actually feel something when they die. There was just no emotion or feeling to it at all. There are no redeeming qualities to this movie, basically they just made a crappy movie and slapped wolverine's name on it to trick people into seeing it. I would literally rather shove my hand into a blender then see this movie again, easily amoung the worst movies I have ever seen.

P.S. Anyone who rates this movie higher than 50% needs to get their head checked. Looking at community reviews made me lose a piece of my soul.
