No particular order and keep in mind that ths is my opinion on the films, so if you don't like them, that's fine.
Although, I have to admit that the main reason for me to like this is Rowan Atkinson, since I first saw this, I always thought this was funny. Some of the more frequent opinions about it ( including Roger Ebert, whose reviews I like a lot) say that this was an unecessary parody and compared it to Austin Powers, who apparently os much better. I don't watch Austin Powers since I was maybe 10, or so, so that I can't say but, "Johnny English" always seemed like it made is job. It didn't want to spoof any movi, just the genre ( that as been spoofed to death, though). But Rowan Atkinson gives life to this character and makes him something creative. I don't love this anymore and it can be really silly, but for me it has some funny scenes, memorable dialogue and some good acting. I am actually looking forward to see the sequel :P
I can't really say that this is particularly good but, I really don't agree with all of the negative response it had. To be honest, I watched some of th cartoons and they are not that great to me ( altough I enjoyed the animated parts of it in the movie). As I said before, I love Leslie Nielsen, and I think he is absolutely one of the best doing this kind of comedies. "Mr Magoo" has some forced jokes, but some of them are good fun to me. The scene where he makes exercice with the chicken, always makes me laugh. I guess the movie was well received because of the cartoon comparison. For me, Mr. Magoo is not that good but it's entertaning enough.
This movie is probably my biggest guilty pleasure, because it's a movie that I shouldn't like as much as I do. It is not that original and to be fair, it's predicatble at some points. Why do I think it worked? The answer may surprise you but it is: Vin Diesel. I consider Vin Diesel to be one of the few action driven actors, to be a good actor overall. He stars in this kid friendly movie where he plays a bodyguard and at the ame time baby sitter. Remember when Hulk Hogan did that?Unlike Hulk Hogan, though, Vin Diesel is actualy convincing in is portrayal. And to be honest, I think it's a fun movie. It's for kids, so we have t give it a slack, don't you think?
George of the Jungle
I said in my review that this movie is considered to be stupid and silly, and apparently is badly made. My point, which I stil defend, was that it wa supposed to be stupid and silly. The man purpose is to mock with Tarzan, so you might as well make it more silly than it should. Not too much to say except, I like it.
Almost every god damn Adam Sandler movie
I say almost because there's some I don't like that much. "The Waterboy" is annoying ( although you guys probably think he is always annoying) and Little Nicky is... well,,, weird. I like "Billy madison", "Happy Gilmore". I actually enjoy "Big Daddy", "You don't Mess with the Zohan", Mr.Deeds", "Bed time Stories, the all seem pretty fun to me, even though I am aware that all of themhave problems. Here's those I consider really good movies. I really like "50 First Date", because of it's storyline and chmesty between Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I love "Click" and it's one of those movies that I don't see how so much people hate. And, to finish, I absolutely doed "Punch Drunk Love", because it doesn't look like a typical movie of his and it is so well put and fun.
Dude, Where's my car?
This must be the biggest mindfuck movie I have ever seen. The story is crazy, the characters are insane and as it goes by, you don't have a clue what, why, when, how everything happens. And, quite frankly, that's what works for me. It's like, a drugged version of "Dumb and Dumber" meets "The Hangover". It's insane, and so stupi that it ends up with some entertainment value.
Tim Burton brought aliens to the big screen with intention to mock movies who previously made it seriously. And I think that's the intention. Making "Mars Attacks!" so dumb and silly, thatat the same time doing a parody of aliens invasions and playing tribute to it, Tim Burton does what it does best. Pretty much like Geroge of the Jungle, this was supposed to be corny and silly. And I love it!
Well, this is my list. Hope you like it and don't get angry if you dislike any of these,
