Oblivion is visually incredible with shots paying homage to classic sci-fi movies mainly Star Wars which ironically one of the screen writers is Michael Arndt (writer of Episode 7). The reason I say this is because the thing that brought this movie down was the script that was filled with plot holes, weak characters, and an extremely weak 3rd act. In his defense there where 3 other writers one of which is the director Joseph Kosinski who directed Tron Legacy another film that incredibly weak in my opinion as far as the story, but great in the visual department. The other two writers are William Monahan who wrote The Departed but that is the only film hes been apart of with a fresh on the tomatoes meter. Karl Gajdusek the second writer wrote the last Joel Schumacher movie so based off of these facts I feel that its those two writers that brought this movie down. Maybe they wrote the original draft and Michael Arndt revised it and in doing that wasn't able to connect the holes but that's still no excuse. I felt watching this movie the more mediocre it became the more I looked to the side of the theater and wanted to take my phone out the check the time. Overall I see this film to be a decent Saturday night rental but not as a movie you need to run to the theater to go and see.
