    GoodFellas (1990)

Movies have been referred to as the only true work of art of the 20 and 21st century, and let me say this movie is not just truly a work of art; its a masterpiece. GoodFellas is arguably one of the greatest gangster films ever made, possibly one of the greatest films ever made period. Its pure entertainment from start to end.

Not only is it a great story but its true; and its told in such a great way. GoodFellas mostly follows the story of a character played by Ray Liotta who gets initiated into a neighborhood Italian mob in his youth and how his life is changed and the struggles he goes through with the mob. The film starts off with Ray Liotta driving a car and pulls over due to a mysterious noise he hears so he and others in his car get down to check it out, they open the trunk to reveal a bloody almost dead body and as they complain to each other how he heck he was still alive Joe Pesci's character stabs him to death with a large knife and another shoots the corpse; it is brutal. The film continues from the beginning of Ray Liotta's character's life to reconnect to that point to continue to what happens afterward. When the film reconnects and you see the true meaning for what was going on you really feel the intensity of what it was like then.

A huge reason why the movie was so great is because it received such great acting from everyone in the cast. And what a great cast it was. All the characters stand out and develop throughout the movie. Robert De Niro who was just a supporting character stood out, specially in one bar scene where you see why he was "one of the most feared men in Brooklyn". You can truly see the intensity in his eyes. All the acting was fantastic, Ray Liotta's performance which was my personal favorite blew me away and left me with a total different impression of him as an actor. Watching the movie you will get to know and actually like and hate some the characters, and what happens to your favorite characters will shock and actually seem to matter when the movie is over.

Martin Scorsese did not hold back in creating his film whatsoever. The characters curse and are as violent as they have to be and were to convey the message, and they are really unpredictable just when you believe you got one person figured out something happens to totally blow you away. The whole movie is not pure intensity and shows the brutality of these people but also shows their love lives, what the mob would to together, and really show their distinct lifestyles. Scorsese portrayed them perfectly and in the process has created something fantastic. Some say it even surpasses The Godfather. In every aspect this is a perfect film.

    Acting: 10/10

    Music: 10/10

    Plot: 10/10

    Special Effects: 10/10

    Direction: 10/10

    Final Score: 100/100

I have two arguments, about The Godfather being surpassed and this film being perfect, because nothing could be perfect....the world would be total anarchy. Anyway, to stop my bitching, I think this is your best review yet. Keep up the good work, man.
