Men in Black 3 definetly was not a movie a lot of people had high hopes for. We've heard a lot of awful things about the production of it, like the movie shooting before the script was even finished. Also, the MIB franchise hasn't really been much of a franchise. The first was good, but I wouldn't put it on the same level as other Sci-Fi Comedies like Ghostbusters or Back to the Future. The second, on the other hand, was completely forgettable. I can't even remember the plot of it.
So, how was number 3? Well, as many have said, Josh Brolin alone makes it better then 2. He does an insanely good TLJ impression. I would go as far as to say it's worthy of Awards regonition. Now, I highly doubt he'll get any. Still, it's not every day you see this type of acting in a summer blockbuster.
How was the rest of the movie? Pretty good. The plot involves Agent J having to go back in time to save K from getting killed. Time Travel is a tricky thing. A lot of movies that use it waste to much time trying to explain it. Luckily, MIB 3 doesn't do that. Instead, it gets right into the story.
Will Smith is... Will Smith. You can't expect a lot of range from him, but he's as likable as ever. He and Josh Brolin have good chemistry togeter.. While there's nothing incredibly funny in it, it's still provides solid laughs. There isn't any deeper meaning to it, but it's still an enjoyable popcorn flick. I will say, without spoiling it, the ending is surprisingly sweet.
This is definetly a pleasant surprise. Still, the Key word is surprise. I had very low expectations for it going in. I could see someone with higher ones not enjoying it as much. I'll probably have to give this one a re-watch on DVD before I can secure my opinion on it.
