Right. I understand making Harry Potter into two parts, since there's so much material stuffed into that book, but
Breaking Dawn is all fluff. Seriously. You could make an effective Breaking Dawn movie in under an hour.

it's not great, it's not completely terrible.
it's just that it's a mater movie; in fact i'm not even sure why lightning mcqueen is front and center on the poster, because this is mater's movie. And unfortunately, i have yet to find anyone that likes mater. I don't, so every time he was on screen or said something stupid and obnoxious i winced. He did it a lot.
The spy stuff was actually pretty cool, though. That and the actual car racing were the best parts, but there wasn't enough racing, at all. I don't even recall ever seeing a satisfactory conclusion to the Francesco-Lightning rivalry, so that was disappointing.
the Toy Story short was extremely cute though.

I never watched this in theaters, because I hear the 3-D was excellent, for once.
unfortunately, when this came out, i decided to be an absolutely immature pixar fangirl. I refused to see it (and was afraid to like it) when it received such glowing reviews and many comparisons to pixar films.
then i watched it. And I realized- this is actually a good film. The animation is beautiful, the score is riveting and nuanced, the characters are interesting, and the interactions are realistic.
(especially the score. I love the score).
yeah, i have to agree, definitely on par with a lot of Pixar stuff, and with some of my Dreamworks favorites- Chicken Run, Shrek, and Antz.

It was satisfying enough for a Pirates fan (and I am one.) The beginning drags a little (as does the middle, and end), and Jack as the main character is a little detrimental to his level of wittiness in this movie.
A lot of people dislike the new "Will and Elizabeth" replacements, but the couples are not much similar. In fact, I found the new couple a little more compelling and they're some of the better parts of the film (especially at the end).
However, they're a little underused, as is Blackbeard. There's also not much of a clear antagonist, so the conflict is also muddled up a bit.
It never really felt like a real Pirates movie to me, except for the mermaids, who are very cool.
It didn't make me laugh nearly as much as the first three. Cruz did all right, but to me, her character was a little annoying, and she and Jack never really have that much chemistry.
The score is similar to that of At World's End, but with new motifs and lovely Spanish guitar.
