Great review, one of the best mystery movies ever, I think Chinatown is the only one that beats it for me.
on 8/12/11 at 09:40 AM
Thanks Movie Guy. I can definitely understand Chinatown ahead of this. They are very close.

I completely agree. This was my Best Pic of the year, too. This is an excellent film and review of it. Pearce showed some of his best here too.
Thanks Mr. Taylor. Completely agree.

Excelente analisis (review)!

This movie is fucking awesome. I really liked it a lot, I kind of predicted the ending, but that didn't ruin this awesome movie. Definitely better than that movie about the boat.
on 8/12/11 at 08:52 PM
I agree. It's such a brilliant film. Thanks Jake.
on 8/12/11 at 01:19 PM
I'm pretty sure I seen this one. At least some of it at some point in my life. Superb work Daniel. I love the cast they got. Oh, and nice sting on James Cameron! I can't believe that a movie about a disaster with a bajillion documentary's that are FAAAAAAAAR better won Best Picture.
on 8/12/11 at 08:54 PM
No doubt. I mean I'm not a Cameron hater or anything, but money was the obvious driving force behind that Oscars. L.A. Confidential was easily better.

Agreed all the way, this film really surprised me when I first saw it. The gunfight at the end is one of the greatest ever filmed. Good review.
Thanks. I agree, that gunfight is excellent. I was also surprised. I expected a cool film, but what I saw was a masterpiece.

I don't think I ever saw this, but seems like I should. I like a mystery plot with surprises so thanks for not spoiling it! Great review ;)
on 8/13/11 at 06:21 AM
Thank you Pandy. I didn't want to spoil the plot, plus it's enough to say it's excellent and along with the incredible atmosphere, this is a brilliant film.

Great film, just finished watching it a second time not too long ago. I am a huge fan of Guy Pearce. Nice review Daniel.
on 8/14/11 at 12:32 AM
Thanks. Yeah, Guy Pearce has somehow gone unnoticed after appearing in two consecutive Best Picture winners (The Hurt Locker, The King's Speech) and this nominee. And who could forget him in Memento? The guy's excellent, and yet few seem to appreciate it.
on 8/15/11 at 02:51 PM
This one is on my list. I expect it to be good. Great review!
on 8/15/11 at 09:36 PM
Thanks. You won't be disappointed.
on 8/16/11 at 09:19 AM
An outstanding film in every regard, one that I enjoy popping in every now and again just to experience it one more time. Great review!

Thank you. I feel the same way.

God this is such a great film, Excellent Review!

Thanks. Couldn't agree more.
on 8/19/11 at 06:02 PM
Nice review! I've also read the book, and although it is vastly different from the movie (in the book, the storyline lasts several decades, and Rollo Tomasi is never mentioned), but Curtis Hanson still manages to adapt it to the screen without disrespecting the vision of the novel, and like you said, has created a modern masterpiece.
on 8/19/11 at 08:52 PM
Thanks Epi. I'd forgotten about the book. I love those kinds of stories so I should pick it up.
