Its not surprising that an acclaimed director like Spielberg would make a Bio-Pic about an important historical figure like Lincoln. This sounds like a well made but slightly flawed film, but never mind I have really got to see this. Brilliant review Craig thumbs up.

Thanks man. It's all about the DDL and Jones show. Otherwise, it's common.

Another one for my list... After Lincoln as a vampire hunter I'd love to see Spielberg's. Nice review, my friend!

Hahaha! Let me know which you like better, Panta!

Nice review Mr. Taylor! I love Day-Lewis' performance, and in particular, Jones' performance and am hoping for a best supporting actor nom for him -- along with other possible nominees Irrfan Kahn (Life of Pi), Robert DeNiro (Silver Linings Playbook), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), and Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower). Another great historical epic from Spielberg!

Can't say that Lincoln is epic by any stretch but it is a decent film with fantastic performances. Agree about Bardem and will add Phoenix and Hoffman for Oscar noms for The Master. Best Pic noms so far have to go to The Master also, Cloud Atlas and Moonrise Kingdom. Oslo, August 31st should be among the years best also.

I forgot to add Hoffman and Phoenix to the list. As for "The Master", and I'm in the minority, I was actually disappointed in P.T. Anderson's latest film. It felt like it had great potential to examine a man's power and influence over his followers, but felt empty in the end, like there was much more to learn about this enigmatic man. "Martha Marcy May Marlene" was mildly better I felt, even though I didn't care much for that film. "Cloud Atlas" is a great film, though.

Glad we can agree on Cloud Atlas. The Master has it's flaws but all together, I loved it for its effort and off beat path. Thanks Epi and get a facebook account! haha

Great review. I thought it was a deliberate attempt to give it the same feeling as the time, small and persona, and not make it a grand sweeping thing. I liked feeling as if I was one of Lincolns' aides sitting in on history as it was made, and the performances were wonderful to see.

Agree about the performances. Thanks R2.

Great review, I'm glad you made a point of this film's bland nature, it's the "almost memorable" Spielberg movie. In a few years this will be a memorable only for the names behind it. (I gave this a 7/10).

Yeah, the costume design and performances pushed the otherwise bland film over the edge into 8/10 territory. Thanks man.

Good review! I didn't think that it was an unforgettable experience, and there was nothing that really amazed me, but I gave it the same rating.

Cool, glad we see it in similar light. Thanks.

Excellent review! While it was a great film with impressive performances, I thought a lot of the scenes where Lincoln narrates events that happened in his life dragged the pacing of the film a bit and were not very intriguing or important to the story.

I understand. Here is a film where most of the value comes from the actors, sets, and costume design.
