The first modern horror film that genuinely reminded me of the feeling I had watching Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' for the first time. It spells nothing out and has a believable situation and premise - characters sometimes act irrationally but this is because of a shadowey backstory and mental illness. This is life from the POV of a paranoid schizophrenic sociopath. Some people think the story 'doesn't make sense' - but that is precisely the point - it makes sense after the film, if you take a non-literal interpretation and do some thinking. If you don't like it, fine - that's your taste and pain threshhold, but the film makes perfect sense as part of the tradition of pagan horror films and indie psychological thrillers like Anti-Christ and Primer. So don't rubbish stuff because you're too thick to work it out! e.g. Jason Solomons, Guardian.
