I don't comment on your journal too often, but I enjoy reading it every time you update because I feel that I agree with you more often than not. Though this film didn't captivate me quite in the way it did you (for a director who fronted such lively efforts as Se7en and Fight Club, I'm unwilling to accept Fincher's last two films), I did enjoy reading your review and actually rethought my take on the film solely based on the few words you put forth. You know I rarely do the comment exchange thing and it's not because I don't care to, it's just been an issue of time- which I don't have lately. And if there's something I wanna say, it's usually too much haha. But I do keep an eye out for 5 out of the 30-something journals I've bookmarked and yours is one of them. I was actually looking forward to this movie until I saw it had 50 Cent in it who has the acting range of a cardboard box, and don't get me started on his musical "skills." Very good review Devon, and I'm glad to see other people getting their thoughts out on this stunner of a picture (which I doubt very much will be ignored at the end of the year by critics or the awards shows). I think you're absolutely right about how high Nolan has set the bar with "The Dark Knight". I can only imagine some poor guy getting ready to direct a superhero film, only to watch this and have his heart sink. What I can't agree with is that 2008's theatrical roster is in trouble. Amazing, amazing movie. It's great to see a great blockbuster like this actually deserve all the praise it's receiving. The movie absolutely kicks ass, Nolan hits every note perfectly. Can't wait to see this again, and I hope Nolan still has a third film in store for us. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |
