The film is essentially the love child of Top Gun, Pearl Harbour, Transformers and Independence Day. Whilst a little slow for the first 30 minutes and a little preachy on the America are the greatest country in the world front, when the action kicks in, it does not disappoint.
Outstanding visual effects and some convincing performances work well and whilst it isn't the greatest film in the world it is a true hollywood popcorn blockbuster. With a solid score and good soundtrack mixed with base destroying sounds, it is truly an experience only worth watching on the big screen. At a huge cost of $200 million the budget was not squandered on crap, it is put to good use having visuals on par with that of the transformers franchise.
It script might not be great and if anything a bit too cheesy but this is an action film of huge proportion. Go in with an open mind not expecting to take any of it serious and you will leave happy. I sure did.
