Great review. Totally agree. Not sure if I would call it the first blockbuster. Both The Godfather and The Exorcist had already made huge marks in the box office of the 70s. But Ebert said that about this time is where it went from making the big american movie to making the big top grossing hit.

I must confess, The Godfather is the film that initiated a non-stop craze inside me that of watching movies. I once watched it playing on some Middle-Eastern channels and since I have gone crazy about movies. No doubt it deserves 100%. Great effort, keep up the good work!

Sounds like you love The Godfather and I will admit I was tempted to see the other two in the same day. King Kong (1933) started my craze for movies as kid a in the early 90s, it was everything I wanted as kid with Dinosaurs and a monster rampaging New York. I think 100% is the only appropriated score to give this classic. Thanks for commenting Sarfaraz.

This is one of my all-time fave films. I had no idea the novel was so fixated on Sonny's penis! Bizarre. Thank God Coppola looked elsewhere to find inspiration for the film. Not that I have anything against big dicks. I think they're pretty cool. : ) It just is not what's on my mind when I contemplate art.

The novel is an oddity, the adaptation is highly regarded as the essential crime film that changed views on crime while the novel contradicts it. Just like you, the source material was nowhere to what would be called art.

The Godfather to me was one of those movies I saw at a very young age and I was supposed to like it, but I didn't see anything special about it. After a few years and a few more viewings, it is without a doubt one of my favs, especially in that genre. It's still a bit slow and dark. Although, I wonder how many peoplle realize the horse head scene is in reference to Sinatra? Excellent review, as always!

Ahh, Bruce Lee, the guy who defined the Martial Arts genre, and action in general. The guy who in a time where urban movie heroes used guns to save the day, equivalently did the same with just his lightning fast hands, feet, and nunchakus. Yeah, if you can't already tell I love Bruce Lee. Not only is he one of my favorite action stars and martial artists of all time, he was also a very inspirational/motivational icon. I agree with this review, Enter The Dragon is one of the best if not the best

If you want a dramatic martial art movie go for Ip Man. I saw it a while back, but I never wrote a review. It has great fight scenes and a good story. The other would be Police Story with Jackie Chan, it's a little more comedic and has a decent story. Plus you get to see Jackie Chan chase a bus with an umbrella in a cool scene. Here's a YouTube link to the full movie, but it's not very good quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWA_6NPLM_A My last recommendation would be The Raid Redemption,

John Singleton is mannered and well-educated director. He took the subject of so-called social-life of many African-Americans to address the most prevailing issues affecting the young African-Americans. The style, in which he directs the film gives lesson to sane and conscious parents throughout the US to divert their sought-after attention toward bringing up their kids under a gentle and productive society. I agree, it's an excellent movie. Going to older movies when the new feels repetitive and bland is what I usually do. And in a time when they counted on creativity and not CGI is some of the best. Like my father used to say, they don't make them like this anymore. Great review CM.

I certainly agree, there just no creativity nowadays and movies aren't as fun as they use to be. They sure don't make them like they use too.

Had loved it when it came out, could not recognize Jeff then and his villain character did in fact scare the sh*t out of us with his bald head, heavy voice and threatening physique.
