This could quite possibly be my favorite film of all time. Before you read any further into this review I feel I should give you fair warning... I am a huge Star Wars nerd. That means that this review could be a little bias in my heavy praise of the film.
Star Wars- A New Hope is the perfect example of the classic battle of good vs. evil. As director George Lucas does an excellent job of telling this story of good and evil. The film starts out with a bang right away with a huge blaster fight aboard the Tantive IV. The Empire, along with Darth Vader, is attacking this ship in hopes of finding the stolen plans to their gigantic space station, the Death Star. These plans were stolen by the Rebel Alliance, which is a group lead by the beautiful Princess Leia trying to bring down the ruthless Empire. The film then moves on to follow the films main protagonist, Luke Skywalker, as he takes his journey towards joining the rebellion and learning the ways of the Force.
The film is filled with many likable characters and each one has a different personality that works real well together. From Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker to C3PO to Chewbacca, the viewer gets a taste of every type of personality. It is at times pretty amusing to watch them work together despite their conflicting personalities. My personal favorite would have to be Han Solo (Harrison Ford). He is what I would say the perfect definition of "badass". His care-free approach to danger and his smartass remarks to anything said to him really make him a fun character to watch.
To sum it all up I would say that this film has everything. A compelling story, edge of your seat action, likable characters, and quite possibly the greatest villain in cinema history, Darth Vader. If you have not seen this movie yet and consider yourself a fan of movies, go watch this immediately. It is a must watch for anyone.
