Poor Vampires, hopefully they could do survive the Twilight films because trolls weren't able to survive Trolls 2. I hope in the future we get more mature Vampire movies. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Trolls have been redeemed slightly due to last years release of the brilliant troll hunter. But yes I agree twilight needs to be forgotten and more serious, terrifying vampires need to take the reigns! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I always preferred Freddy Krugger over most of the horror movie monsters. I mean they all are basically the same as sequels come along. They go to space, to the ghetto, gain superpowers, and eventually the reboot. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Couldn't agree more, although I didn't like the film on the whole, I did really like the charcter of Freddy. I'm kinda interested (for a change) to see how good the 2010 reboot of this film was, as I think this film couldv'e done with a remake 1 Replies | Report Abuse You're not missing much if you see the remake, it's basically the same thing but with better special effects. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I could just picture the same writers doing something like George Washington Dragon Slayer. It's a shame the movie takes itself too serious considering it plot. You saved me some time. Keep up the good work. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Many thanks for the read and comment! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I want this Abraham Lincoln to be in so-called Twilight franchise and finish the game. I was never one to get into the American Pie series, this doesn't like much new for the series. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Haven't seen 'The Wedding' but the reunion has got to be the worst Thanks for the comment and read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I liked 1st and 2nd, haven't seen the rest...thanks for saving my time..Excellent review!!! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I thought this film was passable and I convinced myself I enjoyed it because of my love for the first two films. However, you seemed to nail every criticism I had for it right on the head. Good job. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Cheers, many thanks, and yea I felt the same. I liked the first film a lot, so found it hard to accept how much worse the reunion was. Thanks for the read and comment! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I've been wanting to this for a while, but never got around it. I'll take your word on it being great. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yea I'd definitely recommend it, would be interesting to see what you make of the ending! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I loved it, too! Amazing mixure of genres which will entertain you to the max! Thumbs up for a very fine review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, and cheers for commenting! 0 Replies | Report Abuse This was, by far, one of the most refreshing surprises of 2011 for me. Just nailed it in style, screenwriting, and imagination. I also thought the ending seemed a bit off but I ended up loving it since it concentrated on the main character's arch. I've been avoiding horror movies generally this year for the of lack of creativity in them. It's unfortunate the first one I read about that interests me doesn't sound like anything that would get a theatrical release. I'll take your word on it, I just hope I could find on it on DVD to watch it. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Yea do, it's definitely worth the watch, just don't expect a conventional linear plot, this takes some artistic routes in order to convey it's story. 0 Replies | Report Abuse A low budget horror that's not in the "found-footage" category, I just might give this a chance. I'll make sure to maintain a tolerance for the repetitive plot. The soundtrack does sound it being use wisely instead of the old cheap trick of scarring with a loud and unexpected sound. Nicely written Calum. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks! and yes, this is definitely worth checking out, however I'm not sure about the horror genre stamp that's been given to this film as it produces more of a character driven drama, there is undoubtedly some extremely chilling scenes though! Thanks for the read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Nice choice... hven't seen it... thumbs up for the review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Cheers, this is an obscure one! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

Carrie (2013) |

There's an 1980s version of Carrie? Guess the 2002 version I saw must have been a remake. It was so bad I never bothered to watch it again. I'm not sure if I'm all for another horror remake, Hollywood has certainly screwed them up over the past decade. There was The Thing (2012), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010), When a Stranger Calls (2006, the girl was attractive though), The Wicker Man (2006, Nicolas Cage was hilarious), Psycho (1998, Vince Vaugh as Norman 1 Replies | Report Abuse My comment didn't completely show? Continuing.... Psycho (1998, Vince Vaugh as Norman as Norman Bates are you serious), and so on. I liked Kimberly Peirce's "Boys Don't Cry" but completely hated "Stop Loss". I'll wait for a trailer before completely dismissing this remake. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It's got to a totally ridiculous point to where if a film has been averagely sucessful in the last 20 years, it's set for a hollywood reboot. Usually destroying the legacy of the original. Take the 1973 release of the horror classic, The Wicker Man, winning acclaim among both critics and audiences. Compare this to the awful 2006 version which simply provided as a source of laughter, winning a handful of degrading 'razziez'. Although I'm largely against the idea of a remake, if the original wasn' 1 Replies | Report Abuse Likewise my comment didn't fully show! if the original wasn't brilliant, yet clearly had the material to be excellent I think a remake is acceptable, for which I cannot think of any examples! As for the Carrie remake, a modern adaptation may do it some good, however it's going to be very difficult to improve on near perfection. Thanks for your comment! Extremely interesting review/thoughts on the remake. I honestly think the original is a horror classic but I'm with you that it's flawed and fuzzy at points, with certain themes really not developed enough. But I'm also dreading this remake (as well as the Robocop remake.) To me it's unnecessary, especially if it's in 3-D, and you've mentioned that so far they've failed to even look the sinister resonance of the original. Great writing, Calum. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks very much, this giant surge of lazy reboot's, sequels etc are becoming increasingly boring and predictable, in some cases insulting the original. I too am worried about robocop, I haven't seen the original however the recent image releases of the remake show a seemingly unoriginal 'batman-esque' costume. Hopefully it will deliver along with Carrie! 0 Replies | Report Abuse i jujustwant to know... did you see a preview screening of this film ??? 1 Replies | Report Abuse No, I wish! This was simply a reaction to the photographs that were released earlier in the year, looking forward to it though! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

It's nice to see a non D.C. and Marvel superhero movie, though I don't know if I could get behind the cinematography. Great review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, and yea i know what you mean, sometimes the handheld camera was thrown into a really awkward position, this created a few obscure scenes which were quite annoying! Also the fact that no one questioned andrew about why he was filming was a bit unrealistic, not even his crazy psycho dad asked, but hey their only minor problems Thanks for commenting 1 Replies | Report Abuse No problem, it was a great and insightful read. 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

One of the many forgettable horror movies I saw while in high school. Luckily I had the privileged of watching this at home and laughed how dead serious everybody else was taking it contrived plot. I do definitely agree about the pillow, there many dull scenes in this mess that are worth sleeping through. Once the credit rolled, I knew I saw another bad horror, but for some reason some of my friends seem to like it. Nicely written. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Cheers, theirs a bunch of horror films this year that, on the contrary look like they could impress. Although frequently disappointing, the paranormal activity series still contains an odd amount of intrigue. Also the terrifying trailer for 'sinister' gives me a lot of hope for a good horror film, we so desperately desire after year of wait! But yes this film is certainly rotten, which is odd coming from the director of the only good 'saw' and the surprisingly good insidious. Thanks for the read 0 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks to you, I won't waste ny time on this one! Thumbs up! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Absolute rubbish! Thanks for the read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse |

I've never been a fan of kids movie in general, aside from the visuals it doesn't look like it has any imagination at all in telling a story. I also think I could do without the 86 minutes of lecturing and unnecessary musical numbers. Though what's most surprising to me was Taylor Swift in the casting? I like her, but this movie really doesn't seem to stand out in any way to gain my interest. 1 Replies | Report Abuse It really is quite a poor film, especially if you compare it to children's films released earlier in the year, like the fantastic Muppets. The only thing going for it, is it's prominent important message about the climate, which as heavily mentioned, is ferociously forced. Taylor Swift did nothing for me in this film, she was bland and boring, I didn't even know it was her till the credits rolled. Cheers for the read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I have to say that I enjoyed the old, original Lorax more... but I didn;t think that this one was bad either... nice review, but i dissagree with the rating! :-) 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks for the read! The costumes in most of these movies do make the hero do takeaway seriousness from the movie, but was done right here like Batman. Between Urban and Stallone I have on idea who I like better. I liked Lena Heady a little more than you Calum. Though I did think the makeup artist tried too hard to make her ugly. Also, a great way the end to smoothly end the review. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, I think the fact that Urban's constant deadpan face and his restraint to remove his helmet just clinches it for me (just!) 0 Replies | Report Abuse I'm still waiting to see this and sounds like the 3D is worth the extra price. I just hope I could stomach the slow-mo before it gets annoying. It does somewhat similar to another movie, but it doesn't sound like a rip off. Good review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Although there are some spectacular scenes of slow-motion, it's never really over-used, if anything I'd have liked to seen more of it! Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for the read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Could be interesting... Nice review, mate! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, definitely worth the watch! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I haven't seen the original Dredd film, but this one was very entertaining and a solid action film. The 3D was stunning in a particular scene and the graphic violence as well as some other aspects of the film reminded me of Robocop. Excellent review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Thanks, I truly loved this film, a graphic novel turned graphic film, no strings attached! One of the few good 3D films too. Thanks for the comment! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Believe it or not, only a year ago I was thinking; 'would that there be remake of Judge Dredd to see modified changes and utilization of newly advanced techniques in technology' and here I was being blessed with this. Unfortunately I've not seen this, but planning to; with review like this good my curiosity grows deeper day by day! I enjoyed this movie as well, it's one of the best action movie ever made. Hopefully Cage could good roles in the future since he can be very entertaining. 1 Replies | Report Abuse He's been involved in some brilliant roles recently, with his interpretation of 'Adam West' in Kick Ass, and I also thought he was really good in Bad Lieutenant. Thanks for the comment and read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Very enjoyable movie but I also never understood why it was praised at its level. Great review, man. 1 Replies | Report Abuse Couldn't agree more, Thanks for the kind words and read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse I thought it was one of the better action movies... excellent review, mate! 1 Replies | Report Abuse Cheers, and yea I agree, just think it's a touch overrated, Thanks for the comment and read! 0 Replies | Report Abuse Probably John Woo at his best in Hollywood since his amazing flicks in Hong Kong like The Killer and Hard-Boiled. Great review, however if you had watched it when it was released; I am sure you should have awarded it maximum ratings. Thumbs up for detailed review! 1 Replies | Report Abuse True. Well I do have to admit it better than expected, but not enough to actually make me go out and see it. If Hollywood could keep improving these kind films at this rate then their's no telling what creative mix they could bring to other fairy-tale. 1 Replies | Report Abuse The frustrating thing is these films could be really creative, providing a twist on the original tale (which JTGS did do- perhaps the only fairy tale adaptation to do so). Although uit's fun this film holds plenty of weaknesses, wait for the DVD release to stay indoors for an enjoyable rental. James Franco's performance was brilliant, however I believe that the success of the film was the directing of Danny Boyle, to shoot such an immersive film in such a claustrophobic place, is a real triumph.
