OK. To those who have never read the book, this film is entertaining and fun. They just don't know what they're missing.
It was a shame that so much of what made Voldemort's eventual downfall interesting was not touched upon. The fact that the climax becomes a standard "mano a mano" fest with all the CG and pyro effects rather than the exposition-filled Great Hall stand off that completely ties up the Dark Lord's mistakes, revealing his fatal flaws which lead to his own demise. All lost and completely ignored.
Again... it's a shame. Could have been outstanding, not just good.

I used to read the comics when I was young in Chldrens Digest magazine. This film not only captured the essence of the characters, but the story as well. Herge never underplayed his story telling because we were children, and that common thread is carried well by Jackson and Speilberg in an incredible adventure for all ages to enjoy. The animation was a triumph without being pushy or overbearing.
