The second chapter of the epic tale of Lord of the Rings is just as incredible as the first. In this, we see the story and the characters go into much darker places. I didn't even think that was possible after all that happened in Fellowship, but I was sorely wrong. The fellowship is broken, there are characters scattered all over Middle-earth, and everything just seems hopeless. I loved the way that Peter Jackson conveyed the feeling of despair in each character at some point or another in the film. Grade: A
