I feared this would be another partisan Obama bashing. It was not. The film gives a measured, civil, and informative recap of Obamaâ(TM)s personal history, including considerable perspective from Obamaâ(TM)s books and speeches. I think most people tend to view the actions of others based on our own personal frames of reference, our paradigms. The film took me out of my personal paradigm and helped me to understand the view of someone raised by people who felt impoverished by the impact of Imperialism. The movie reminds us that America also once suffered under the Imperialist arm of Great Britain, which led to our Revolutionary War and the rise of Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin. Then the movie discusses the anti-Imperialists views of today, the views shared by Obamaâ(TM)s parents, friends, and mentors. This is followed by theory about how those anti-Imperialist views might affect important decisions facing our country today. This is a movie for those who are willing to challenge themselves to think about current issues from a perspective that is not common to someone who was raised in America.
