I think that this is an original, funny and smart teen movie, which by far differentiates itself from the standard cliche and dumb teen muck out there. Easy A is about an unpopular nerd, Olive Penderghast, who becomes popular when a lie about losing her virginity gets a little out of hand. Soon she has the unpopular guys asking her for favours in order to boost their popularity and the lies keep on spilling. Soon enough Olive finds herself in more trouble than she bargained for. Emma Stone was absolutely fantastic; what a brilliant young actress. She exudes so much energy, warmth and charm, which is rare for a young actress. Emma Stone is different from all those trashy talentless Hollywood starlets with as much talent as their little finger. Stone really is a star in the making. I really thought that the film was really well acted with a talented cast; Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci were delightful, as Olive's quirky and loveable parents. I liked how this film didnt adher to the typical high school cliches, for example the blonde and slutty "plastics" types being the ones to rule the school. It shows that bullies can come in different forms, in this film the judgemental and obnoxious Jesus freak, Maryanne and her entourage rule the school by promoting their rigid religious beliefs. I think that Amanda Bynes gave a really decent perfomance as Maryanne, which makes a difference from her usual ditzy girl next door role. This film is witty and smart and something that teenagers can definitely relate to. This is a really original take on a teenaged situation. Kudos to this film!
