In "Phases", viewers will be pleased that their favorite redhead finally obtains tranquility and tenderness with the sensitive Senior, Oz, who undergoes major revelations himself during the Oz/Willow-centric episode.
"Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered" heats things up for the Xan Man, who I have yet to give recognition to for being utterly awesome in more ways than one.
Look at him fighting off the women of Sunnydale
Anyways, back to the episode. Xander casts a love spell on Cordy so he can break-up with her and allow her to suffer the same agony she put him through after she broke-up with him. Unfortunately, every other woman falls head-over-heels for Xander except Cordelia. Rat transformations, potential lap-dancing, axe-murdering attempts, and highly-amusing farce incur; and the show ultimately concludes with Cordy realizing she doesn't want to be a "sheep" like Harmony, she wants to be herself and with her man, Xander. What! Love's a little complicated and on Buffy, even moreso.
Mobs for Xander
Cordy proclaims her free-will
Viewers who found "Surprise" & "Innocence" to be heartbreaking enough will be blown out of the water by "Passion", which acts as a showcase for the show's budding potency as a somber drama. For a sophomore year, an episode like "Passion" is almost unheard of; a crucial character is brutally murdered by another that is just as vital. It's an episode that makes Buffy's second season one of its finest. The episode can be summed-up as a tragically poetic and gut-wrenching gem.
