GI: Joe: Retaliation may have one of the most nonsensical plots to ever grace an action film, and I saw A Good Day To Die Hard only a month ago. To give you an idea of how confused this movie is, I have no idea where the subtitle Retaliation actually comes from. The action is just as forgettable with the exception of a few parts. Mostly though , it's 2 hours of action that doesn't fly by but rather crawls by.
I would love to give a little exposition on the story for you to explain my disdain but it's again so jumbled and foreign that I gave up trying halfway through. Just be prepared to watch The Rock save the world from an impostor President while the Cobras go through their own ridiculous subplot. I will admit that Dwayne Johnson is growing on me as an actor though and shows here that he can hold the reigns on a big franchise. His banter with Channing Tatum is often cheesy but then again the entire movie suffers from that. Rocky and Channing just make it work. Everyone else is very awkward and bad however but RZA playing a sensei is some of the worst acting I've seen since , well when he directed , starred , and did everything in Man With The Iron Fists.
There seriously is not a single reason to see this film unless you're a diehard GI: fan. Even those people have got to be raging though because there's no interesting action or story here
