    The Wrestler

    The Wrestler (2008)

A cripplingly moving and all-too-real tale of a once-glorious man forced to accept that there are demons he can never defeat including age and karma. Mickey Rourke shines in one of the most subtle yet powerful performances of the decade, and easily the best of the year. Aronofsky once again challenges the viewers with the tragedy of acceptance, this being the acceptance of lost admiration, where The Fountain was about the acceptance of a lost love, and Requiem for a Dream's acceptance of a lost future in the dark world of drugs. Not to be compared, however, to those previous films, The Wrestler stands tall in this year's season of movies.
