"Oh Sweetie I love u 2 much please don't send me anymore of those quizzes I have so many it's crazy I thank u 4 thinking of me but I really don't need anymore.
Always Ciara. xo"
Lol I just had to laugh
So, which one's did you miss?
No, it rather sucks that I cannot.
Yes but I'm talking to Jacob right now on the phone and it's really really hard to chat on the net and the msn at the same time. So yeah. And I'm jsut about to play multiplayer Medal of Honour with Jacob anyway.
Yes I realize flixter is a long ways away, but now that I have highspeed I see it does not take very long to travel here. ;)
Congrats on the quiz, I kinda figured you'd get top score. (until David tries it anyway)
Out of curiosity, which ones did you miss?

hey i have no idea how it happened either. I just noticed that you were my friend and i don't even remember excepting it but whatever. I don't use livejournal though so thats not it.
Have I sent that recommendation before?
If so, it was a very long time ago, so it shouldn't matter.
I actually haven't read any of the newer Superman comics, my collection dates from about 1970 to 1998.
The Death of Superman is a great story, as well as the Reign of the Supermen that takes place immediately after. You should really read those two storylines together, its a good read. If you ever get the chance to pick it up I highly recommend you do so.
You imply that Superman isn't 'the good stuff'.
YOu obviously haven't read enough Superman comics :P.
And yes, I read all kinds of comics, Superman just happens to be my favorite.
Lol. You just can't seem to mention cinima without sticking Lost somewhere in the middle of it. Ah well, I might like it too if I saw it. Though I'm sure it's not as good as a 'normal' movie. ;)
Oh btw, I heard one song of Billy Talent. I think it ws "Red Flag" or something? That was pretty good. If it's any indication of their typical style, I'd say I like them. I wouldn't've a year ago, but I've kinda grown into that style a bit.
Hello again. What are you up to? (just to let you know, my net connection is really slow right now)
Seen any good or not so good movies recently?
Maybe we're thinking of two different supermans, as I'm sure what you just said is quite impossible for the 70's one.
*looks around nervously* is that...a bad thing?
Wow. I just noticed your rating on "o brothers where art thou?" While I didn't see it, my parents pitched it as they said it was dumb. Just curious as to what you thought of it.
I like your rating on Collateral. Question though, what cliched elements were you reffering to?
Hey
Hey Blair, With regards to Superman your trusted friends are right, it's not all bad, worth the price of a cheap movie admition. Television well I have free to air Assie Television which is a baren wasteland of Big Brother and cheap re runs of American shows. However I also have Foxtel Digital which has a good variety. Basically there isn't a single show that I loyal watch every time it's on, I saw the series finale of the OC, which was painfully unenventful. I liked Lost for a while but got sick of because nothing would ever happen. However I love the British shows, I am following the BBC series Bleakhouse and I enjoy the occasional David Attenbrough animal documentary. But seeing as though you say you find TV more interesting than movies, I am interested to know which shows you speak of and what makes the so interesting. Also I really like Whose Line Is It Anyway.
I'd have to see batman again to specifically say. I just remember a couple times I thought it didn't quite make the cut.
As for Bourne, I suppose it may not be the most original, but I thought it was quite solid. I couldn't find any flaws that would classifiy it to be under 5. But I could also be biased, as I'm a fan of Mat Damon and of that genre of film in general. Also the music fit really well I thought.
Actually, yes, you seem like someone with something of a good taste in movies and a liking for international cinema as well(which is rare and all the more appreciated by me) although, granted, you don't appear to have seen many "foreign"/arthouse films. Do not feel obligated to accept, should you not like to.
I was meaning the second.
As for the corrupt cop, I mean the fat guy who is always eating. Yeah, the mob boss sucked too. Scarecrow does pretty well. Thats the second movie I've seen him play a villain, and he's pretty creepy in both
*laughs* actually some of us DID watch napoleon dynamite. my dad was the only one that saw it completely though; the rest of us left pretty quickly;p
I am somewhat dissapointed with your rating of Bourne Identity. What could possibly keep it from getting at least four stars?
Wow, despite our 70 something mct score, it is rather strange that we agree, eh? Yeah, by poor acting I'm talking about that girl, the corrupt cop, and a few other lesser characters. My neurons arn't firing on all cylinders right now so I cant come up with any examples to back up my critiques. I'll remember them later.
One thing I remember about batman is the music. Although the music in itself is good, blended with the film, it can be a tad overpowering.
Thanks for the comment Blair, I understand what your saying but regardless I felt the child out of wedlock was like you said yourself out of character, and wantingly amoral. Frankly Bryan Singer should have started the entire series a fresh instead of counting some and leaving out others which is confusing and annoying no matter how good the counted ones were. Batman Begins did it fantastically, I don't see why Superman should be any different. Thanks for the info anyway. What did you think of the movie, or haven't you seen it yet?
I'd like to think that I'm fair in rating films but there appears to be a very distinct bias in favor of rom coms and musicals. I am embarrassed to see in retrospect that I have awarded a few rom coms 4 stars!
I think I rate films in their genre. No rom com or family comedy can really have four stars if a fantastic drama movie has four stars too. But as a rom com in that specific genre, it may be fantastic compared to the others in that genre. Does that make sense?
Similarly, I have a bias against Tom Cruise, something you may have picked up on, perhaps. I'm not fair to him, I admit, but I find it difficult to accept him as the excellent and celebrated actor people seem to think he is.
Sometimes I feel that half stars aren't small enough denominations.
Oops! Did I really rate O Brother Where Art Thou? like that? Sorry, it's been a while since I've seen it, I've watched Toy Story recently and have a soft spot for rom coms, even the dodgy ones! I'm always tweaking my ratings, so there might be some changes there.
As for Harry Potter, I was extremely doubtful that I'd enjoy it but gave into my brother harassing me into watching the first film. I thought it was okay, decided to give the books a go, and was hooked from there. I can criticize the books and the movies easily, but there is just that something there that I'm very drawn to.
I don't know about being friends with someone who's not into Harry Potter... Just kidding! Of course you can friend me.
hey blair
Just want to say that I'm glad someone, like u, has an Indianna Jones movie as one of their favourite movies. Haven't u seen more than over two hundred movies, though?
~Cie
hehe, it wasnt too bad. i dont exactly call any of the characters role models, but it was kinda funny in places.
Lol. Actually there are still some idiots that hang out there sometimes, tho as some of them say, its their 'epersona'. For them its a place to re-invent there personality and have some fun.
Heheheh, I've surpassed you in profile views ;P
If it wernt for the nudity Id recommened you see it. Hmm, maybe I should start my own editing service. I'll sell custom edited movies
Well, something a bit more...flashy. This was so not hollywood it was almost a foreign flick. Even the camera work seemed almost over simplified, probably in attempt to give things a more realistic feel. He did exeptionally well at giving the film a 70's look and feel. You almost wouldnt believe it was just made
ha! yes fantastic four SUCKS
Well, I could recommend it after some editing, if you know what im talking about...
Hey Blair. The reason why I gave full stars to One Flew Over.. is because, although I said I didn't like it, is because I loved the book so much, more than the film, but I still liked the film, no where near as much as the book though.
And yes I usually only review the films I like because bad films have no interest to me.
Hey Blair. I am interested inseeing House Of Flying Daggers, although it looks a bit like a cheaper copy of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, the adds for it looked interesting anyway.
I'm sorry my review of Cars wasn't up to your standards, but I guess I can't please everyone. Regardless of the review I would recommend it to anyone.
It's a shame you haven't seen any Altman films, he is one of the greatest dircetors alive, Gosford Park is my favourite of his, you must see that.
I see you don't have any lists, dissapointing really, they give such a good insight into the world of films for the person's perspective. Chat soon.
Well, I've bumped up Minority Report's rating...
In any case, I rate movies as to how much I enjoy them, not necessarily on how good I think they are as movies, even though it usually works out that the better a movie is the more likely I am to like it...
As you can see, a few of my 5 star ratings are far from perfect films, but they're my favourites.
Hey Blair, I agree, forget about it. I see you saw Babett's Feast and liked it. Great movie so simple and yet so profound. I never thought one meal could look so unbelieveably delicious. Great film. I would recommend Cars, not the best of Pixar, but still vintage, what would Disney do without Pixar, I shudder to imagine. I desperately want to see a Prarie Home Companion, I am a huge fan of Altman, Gosford Park has to be my favourite, I haven't seen Nashville or Mash yet. Hope to hear from you soon.
Bad terms? Fuck no. My connection died at the very moment I asked you who you were, and has stayed dead for all but six hours.
Ah, the joy of living in the hills.
Personally, I have no issues or gripes with you at all.

Good points. I think your last paragraph is true. Can
someone be totally unbiased and objective? Even if so,
his critique isn't what everyone else thinks. So I think
it all boils down to how much you personally enjoyed the
movie.
Hey blair, I suggest if you want to see Bourne supremecy
to watch the first one first, Bourne Identity. Be
interested to hear your thoughts on it.
Okay. Mr Blair, listen carefully for the last time. I
believe particular scenes in Serenity are immoral, not
because they show immoral material, but rather that they
make a point of showing that immoral behaviour is ok. Now
I'm not sure what the situation is in Canada, but in
Sydney Australia we find it extreemly rude I presume
things about things we don't know.
If you have anything constructive to say than say it
without presuming things about people of which you know
nothing.
I am angry that this childish discussion has gone on as
long as it has. However I completely understand what you
are saying and respect your opinon.
If you want to discuss something else I will be happy to
oblige.
I do not know if I am capable of intelligent
conversation. I am somewhat of a dumb blonde minus the
blonde hair.
The thing is, with Uwe Boll, his films really
are quite awful, some of the worst I've seen. I
shouldn't TRY to be diverse, but just be honest
about the ten films that have disgusted me the
most.
As for Napolean Dynamite, it is admittedly an
opinion, and the fact that MTV released it to a
mainstream audience, to me, is a forewarning
that the movie as a whole is absolutely poor.
Watching the (God forbid) whole mess was
something I'd like to forget.
It annoys me that it is so popular.
I cannot corral upon anything redeeming about
the film. I do not believe that one thing is going
for it. Generally anything about the film
that can be used as an archetypal pro is shot
down by the fact that it was fleeced from City On
Fire.
When I watch Reservoir Dogs, I am obligated by
a sense of dignity and respect for Ringo Lam to
cancel out anything in RD that was in City On
Fire and then search out anything of merit from
the open space that ensues.
It's not pretty, and what is left is an abscess
of exorbitant proportions. We simply do not get
anything worthy of credit from a shameless hack
in the form of Quentin Tarantino, and the cast
are no better.
Ah, right - the "movie compatible" button works.
unfortunately LJ doesn't allow any object tags so it
seems like our little streaming review widget does not
work there. :(
Let me know if i am wrong!
Thanks Blair.

What on earth are you blubbering about? I do not recall
any name-calling?
hey blair,
thx for the note in the forums. what's your livejournal
URL? Would love to see this working there.
It does work on blogger - i've tested that...

Now all of your talk is gone. Happy now. As though it was
never there. I find your lenghty posts very opinionated
but interesting no the less.
Sorry I didn't reply to your last post, I could see it
was heading into an ugly argument and I wanted to stay
clear of that. I recieved other posts on Serenity and
have decided that Flixster must be full of Sci Fi
Serenity freaks.
My two most controversial movie ratings Serenity and
Napoleon Dynamite, made controversial that is by your
verbal bashing posts.
How did I know that you would like Hellboy. You really
must enjoy the films I hate. Although you appear to have
similar tastes to me, you seem to passionately like the
most random stupid films. Oh well, I hope this
explantation suffices.
Saiyan_Joe@hotmail.com
Enjoy.
no special reason... just that i rolled the dice and you scored pretty high on my MCT
list. don't have to add me back, really. ;)
Glad to see you enjoy the thin man series as well!! I
adore those films.
I do not wish to dissect your reviews. I agree to
disagree.
Hope to hear from you.
Shoot.
I completely disagree with your review for Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy
Clearly we do differ on some films. I cannot comprehend
how an obviously intellegent person such as yourself
could give 4 stars to Napoleon Dynamite. I hate, hate,
hate, hate that film. Serenity on the other hand I would
really have to be a fan, like you, had seen all the
series to give a review that would give it justice. The
immorality I was speaking of comes in the form of the
relationship between the mechanic girl crew member and
the brother of the strange girl, it just seems so playful
and innocent. So I have promoted Serenity to 2 stars, the
highest I can possibly give it. But I strongly recommend
that if you want to be taken seriously as a film critic,
reduce your rating of Naopleon. As you said in your
review you need to step back from your personal
experiences and judge the film objectively.
No no no, you misunderstand me with this whole
mainstream business.
I watch mainstream films as much as the next
lad, but I do not favour them. I have enjoyed
many a popular film, but too many of them are
awful tripe that are so rushed that only those
with short attention spans can love them.
For me, I prefer The English Patient (though
nine academy awards would've made it mainstream
back in '96) and Sunshine.
I am fifteen. Interestingly enough, I've been
accused of plagiarism by my faulty school
system a number of times. Especially for film
study.
But to the point, Batman Begins was, for me, a
masterpiece Batman film, if I wrote that it was
a cinematic masterpiece, then I apologize, for
I often say things when I get carried away with
complimenting things. It was a great film by
all means: the cinematography was great, Bale
hit the jackpot, and it was otherwise a welcome
return to the dark roots of a beloved superhero.
It's not my favourite, or one of them. I'd give
you my YMDB link, but I'm too lazy for now.
Not to sound poetic, but I do watch films to
see the world through other eyes. To leave my
body for 90 to 300 minutes and take in an
unforgettable experience.
I like to immerse myself in everything I see.
What I dislike are the films that I cannot
immerse myself in. They block me out, and even
when I'm trying to like it, something always
comes along to keep me at bay.
Film is indeed most useful as a medium, as it
tells the audience exactly what is happening.
Books are great for the mind, because they
never tell you EXACTLY what is occuring.
Indeed, film is my foremost interest. I am also
an avid writer and make screenplays and stories
on an oft-basis. It is indeed my aspiration to
become a director. I don't care for mainstream,
and the South Australian film industry is
perfect for telling a dramatic piece.
My lifelong dream would be to direct a film
with Ralph Fiennes, because so many foremen in
my scripts are normal people. Humans with
flaws. Fiennes exce
Sure thing.
I'm temperamental and, admittedly, an ass. So
my "acidic" presence is only bound to worsen as
more and more of the ignorant crowd on Flixster
pile in.
I'm flattered that you take notice and intrigue
in what I like, as opposed to so many others.
I'll keep an eye out for your reviews, also.
"ok"
well i will reveiw more movies and then u can judge on my
taste in films!! :)
"Hi"
"Becuz i need more friends"
That's what I meant. Thanks for wording it better.
What a sharp wit you have Mr. Corbett. You are very
clever in pointing out that The Godfather, rated so
highly by me, is the last example of moral movies, even
when it goes so far as to glorify the Italian Mafia.
However the straight immorality in The Godfather is
clearly represented as immoral behaviour, where as
Serenity takes it as the 'norm'. Since you seem to look
so favourably on Serenity perhaps I was a little hasty in
judging it so harshly. God knows my cousins simply loved
it. But the reviving of a Sci Fi show into a movie made
my bowels shrivel within me. I have seen so many crumy
sci fi films and shows that I grow weary of even slightly
good ones. I talk too much too, iy seems we have that in
common.
well this thing said we would be good friends so hi!!!!
Oops, my last comment was supposed to be in my profile.
Sorry.
Well, given what you said about the original matrix, I
think I'll watch it. I'll let ya know what I think.
I must confess that I haven't seen all of it,
but what I did, well. I thought it was kind of
cheesy, I didn't think the acting was
especially great, and I thought the special
effects were mostly not good. And I thought the
costume for the Thing was just horrific, at
least compared to the comics I've read. The
plot didn't seem to be anything special, and in
fact, there didn't even seem to be much of one.
There wasn't any real emotion in it, aside from
an awkward, embarrassing to watch romance
between Reed and Sue. Generally, I just really
didn't think it was a labor of love and craft
on the level of Spider-man 2 or Batman Begins,
sticking to the roots of the comic book but
still being fresh and exciting and funny and
entertaining. Fantastic Four felt like
pre-packaged junk food that looks flashy but
doesn't actually even taste all that good.
That's as good an assessment as I can give,
without watching it again.
The guy who played the Human Torch was okay,
thou
What didn't you like about fantastic four?
