I love movies, just like I love most other art forms such as music, writing and costume. But I'm always really picky. I am quick to criticise, for good or bad, and I can quickly spot what elements work and don't work. I have a strange knack for that. I believe that there are two major types of films out there: art films, and entertainment films.
Entertainment films are what I think of as the cliche Hollywood drivel genre films where you already know the ending, the content is tame, and it is jammed full of crowd pleasers and special effects but don't really say anything meaningful.
Art films demonstrate craft, there is much thought into them, unique twists, and rather than being a cheap escape from reality, they speak about the human condition.
And it is these art films that I love.
